Business Analyst

Assignment Context

For a major financial institution, we are looking for an experienced IT Business Analyst to support the implementation and enhancement of the Valuation Data Set (VDS) required for regulatory valuation reporting.

The role focuses on ensuring accurate sourcing, mapping, transformation and reporting of valuation-related data in line with regulatory expectations. You will act as the connecting link between business, regulatory, data and technology teams, translating complex regulatory requirements into practical business and IT solutions.

This position requires a strong understanding of regulatory reporting processes, data analysis, stakeholder management and experience working throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Role Description

As an IT Business Analyst , you will analyse regulatory requirements, define business and data requirements, and support the delivery of solutions that enable compliant valuation reporting.

You will work closely with regulatory reporting, finance, risk, resolution planning, data teams and IT delivery teams. Your role is focused on bridging business needs and technical implementation by translating requirements into functional specifications, data mappings and implementation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory & Functional Analysis

• Analyse regulatory requirements related to Valuation Data Sets and regulatory valuation reporting.
• Translate regulatory expectations into business and functional requirements.
• Collaborate with regulatory reporting, finance, risk and resolution planning teams.
• Support impact assessments and gap analyses for regulatory changes.
• Define business rules, data requirements and reporting specifications.
• Ensure solutions align with regulatory expectations and business needs.

Data Analysis & Data Management

• Identify and document data elements required for valuation reporting.
• Perform data sourcing analysis across multiple systems and business domains.
• Define and maintain source-to-target mappings and business transformation logic.
• Analyse data quality issues and identify data gaps.
• Propose remediation actions to improve data accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with data owners and subject matter experts to establish data lineage and traceability.
• Support reconciliation activities between source systems and regulatory reports.

Technology & Delivery

• Work closely with IT, data transformation and development teams.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including:
• Requirements gathering
• Solution design
• Testing
• Implementation
• Create and maintain functional specifications, user stories, process flows and data mapping documentation.
• Support UAT planning, test case creation and issue management.
• Ensure delivered solutions meet regulatory and business expectations.

Required Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate has:

• Strong understanding of regulatory reporting, resolution, financial reporting or risk reporting.
• Experience with regulatory initiatives, reporting frameworks or data governance programs within banking.
• Knowledge of SRB reporting, Valuation Data Sets or resolution-related reporting is highly desirable.
• Experience working in complex banking environments with multiple stakeholders.

Data & Analysis Skills

• Strong experience with data analysis and data mapping.
• Experience defining business rules and source-to-target mappings.
• Knowledge of data lineage, data quality and data governance concepts.
• Ability to analyse large datasets and identify inconsistencies, gaps and trends.
• Experience working with multiple upstream and downstream data sources.

Technical Skills

• Good understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery methodologies.
• Hands-on experience writing and analysing SQL queries.
• Experience with reporting and dashboarding tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar.
• Understanding of data warehousing and data integration concepts.
• Knowledge of API, ETL and data flow architectures is an advantage.

Experience Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst or IT Business Analyst.
• Proven experience within banking, regulatory reporting, risk, finance or data management environments.
• Experience working in complex regulatory environments.
