Job description
We're looking for an experienced programme manager to lead delivery of a global one-year programme supporting young changemakers working on responsible tech and AI across four regional cohorts.
The Programme
This ChangemakerXchange programme is backing young changemakers building a fairer, more sustainable future for AI and the digital world, and using technology in ways that serve people and the planet.
This spans a range of work, from building alternative AI infrastructure, to preserving indigenous / local knowledge and fighting algorithmic bias, to tackling the environmental footprint of hardware and data centres, to defending digital rights and fair labour conditions for the people behind AI systems, to using AI and tech for social and environmental impact.
The programme runs across four regions: Europe, MENA /SWANA, the US, and Asia Pacific, with a cohort of around 12 selected changemakers in each region. It builds on our earlier AI programme, delivered across Europe, Latin America and MENA in 2025-26.
This role is offered as a 12-month contract, running through to the end of October 2027 or one year from the start date.
The Role
This is a very hands-on project management role. You'll be responsible for coordinating and delivering the programme across all four regional cohorts, in contact directly with 50+ changemakers in total, working closely with local hosts in each region and managing the relationship with our corporate partner.
Programme Delivery
- Own the end-to-end delivery of the programme across all four regional cohorts, including the selection process, kick-off, group sessions, in-person gatherings, and capacity building support.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets across the four regions, keeping everything on track and within budget.
- Build and manage the systems and processes that keep a multi-region programme running smoothly, including participant tracking, scheduling, and reporting tools.
Coordination with Local Hosts & Facilitators
- Act as the central point of coordination for local hosts and facilitators supporting the cohort in each region, ensuring consistency of quality and experience across all four.
- Support local teams with planning, troubleshooting, and day-to-day delivery questions.
Corporate Partnership Management
- Manage the day-to-day relationship with the partners who are funding and engaging with the programme.
- Coordinate partner staff engagement opportunities across the four regions, including in-person gatherings, speed mentoring, and potential advisory input.
- Lead on programme reporting to the partner, including impact data collection and funder-facing reports.
- Support coordination with our other corporate partner in this space, capacity building sessions and coaching matches for existing community members, and represent the programme at relevant sector events where opportunities arise.
Evaluation and Impact Measurement
- Coordinate impact measurement across all four cohorts, using consistent metrics so results can be compared and rolled up regionally and globally.
- Collect, analyse, and report on outcomes, and feed learnings back into how the programme is run.
General Core Team Responsibilities
- Participate in regular team meetings and planning discussions.
- Join the 2027 team retreat and collective planning efforts during your time with us.
- Contribute to team culture and ways of working.
What We Look For
Essential criteria
- Significant experience in programme or project management, ideally managing multi-region or multi-stream programmes.
- Fluency in English, verbally and in writing.
- Berlin-based, or otherwise Germany-based given the timeline for this role does not allow for relocation.
- Strong organisational skills and comfort managing complexity across multiple regions and stakeholders at once.
- Experience and fluency, or fast learning capacity, with standard office and project tools (e.g. MS Office, SharePoint, Google Tools, Typeform, Zoom).
Ideal attributes
- Experience managing corporate partnerships, ideally with a large multinational company, able to speak the language of a corporate funder as well as of the changemakers on the programme.
- Existing knowledge of and networks within the responsible tech and AI space globally, this would be a considerable bonus.
- Some knowledge of or interest in AI and responsible tech, enough to talk credibly with corporate partners and technical changemakers alike.
- A pragmatic, delivery-focused approach. This is a coordination and delivery role and doesn't involve advocacy work.
- Existing knowledge of one or more of the four regions (Europe, MENA, US, Asia Pacific) is a bonus, not a requirement.
- Comfortable working independently and solving problems without waiting to be told.
You have doubts about fitting all the criteria above, but are excited about the role and believe you could be a match? Please still apply, we'd love to hear from you and explore the opportunity to work together.
What We Offer
- A 12-month contract, running through to the end of October 2027.
- A full-time position, with the possibility of slight flexibility on this.
- A small but lovely office in the heart of Berlin, including state-of-the-art tech equipment.
- Flexibility for home office days.
- Annual salary range of 45-60K EUR- our process follows a salary framework based on years of relevant experience, competencies, and role responsibility.
Our Work Environment
We strive for a workplace that is:
- Supportive and empowering, somewhere team members truly feel good coming to work.
- Diverse and inclusive, a place where differences are valued and celebrated.
- Open and authentic, a place where everyone feels safe to speak up about issues or discomforts.
- Distributed decision-making, with open conversations about hierarchy, responsibility, and decision-making power.
Diversity at ChangemakerXchange
We celebrate diversity as one of the key values and strengths that helps us thrive as a global community. We aim for our core team to be as diverse as the community members we serve, and we explicitly encourage marginalised candidates to apply.
