Risk Officer (Security)

Risk Officer | Security Monitoring & Log Onboarding | Major Dutch Bank

We are looking for a Risk Officer to join the Security Monitoring and Cyber Defence function at a major Dutch bank. In this role you act as the key link between Security Monitoring, Cyber Defence, and Application/Product teams, making sure security logging requirements are identified, risk-assessed, and successfully onboarded into the bank's security monitoring platform. You will work at the intersection of security, risk, and stakeholder management, driving visible improvements in the bank's monitoring coverage and audit readiness.

About the role

You are responsible for the end-to-end process of security log onboarding: from identifying gaps in logging coverage, registering and managing risks, issues, deviations and waivers, through to remediation tracking and operational monitoring. You embed security monitoring requirements into the application lifecycle and work closely with Cyber Defence, Security Monitoring, Architects, Product Owners, and Application Teams to get there.

You will:

• Coordinate identification and validation of security events (authentication, authorisation, audit logs) and facilitate their onboarding into SIEM and monitoring platforms
• Manage risks, issues, deviations, waivers and compensating controls, assessing the business and security impact of missing monitoring coverage
• Act as the primary liaison between Security Monitoring, SOC/Cyber Defence, Application Owners, Product Owners, Risk & Control functions, and Architecture teams
• Maintain dashboards and metrics on onboarding progress, monitoring coverage and risk status, and report into governance forums and audit/regulatory activities

Who are you?

• Solid background in Security Monitoring and SIEM solutions (e.g. Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar)
• Working knowledge of Identity and Access Management concepts, threat detection and SOC processes
• Experience with IT/Security Risk Management, including issue, waiver and deviation management
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as DORA, NIST, ISO 27001 or CIS Controls
• Experience with cloud platforms, Azure preferred
• Strong stakeholder management skills, able to bridge technical and governance conversations
