Nutrition and Food Science (NFS) Lab Assistant - MOE Secondary School (Job Reference: TSTKNT-2026-09-001)

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, organised, and dependable Kitchen Assistant to support the daily

operations of the Nutrition and Food Science Laboratory, while providing administrative support in

an MOE Secondary School near

Yishun

MRT. You will work closely with the HOD/LH-Science and

Vice Principal, Administration Managers/Executives and School Leaders to ensure smooth school

operations.

Key Responsibilities

❖ Cutting and preparing specific portions of ingredients and distributing them

according to the recipe given by teachers before the start of all NFS practical lessons.

❖ Store food ingredients according to food safety standards.

❖ Maintenance of the refrigerator which includes clearing of food.

❖ Clearing of unwanted packaging, boxes or items to be disposed of.

❖ Maintenance of tidiness of Food Labs.

❖ After lessons, check all cookers are off and rubbish is disposed of.

❖ Check that the main gas supply is turned off at the end of the day.

❖ Clear the centre store table.

❖ Washing of rags using the washer/dryer machine.

❖ Perform inventory checks in NFS Food Lab and Work Room.

❖ Ensure Food Labs are arranged in order after practical lessons.

❖ Assist in food preparation for projects under the NFS Department, e.g. Talent

Development, Teachers’ Day, competitions, etc.

❖ Assist in food ordering for all NFS practical lessons and NFS practical examinations.

❖ Receive the food orders delivered. Store the ingredients appropriately in the labs.

❖ Contacting the grocer whenever the food orders delivered has missing items or the

ingredients are not fresh. To request for an exchange or replacement of ingredients, if needed.

❖ Fill up the soaps, check that the cutlery and equipment are in place.

❖ Note leftovers to carry forward and advise teachers should there be insufficient

ingredients for preparation of lessons.

❖ Perform stock-taking duties of consumables such as detergents, soaps and sponges.

❖ Any other duties assigned by FCE teachers.

Job Requirements

1. PSLE certificate

2. Passed Singapore Food Agency (SFA) Food Safety Course Level 1

3. At least 1 year of relevant working experience in a kitchen environment

4. Has knowledge on handling food and ability to portion ingredients for practical lessons

5. Team player with a positive attitude and pleasant disposition

6. Good communication skills

7. Able to work independently and take initiative

Employment Details

Contract Period: From 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028

Location: Near Yishun Mrt

Working Hours:

• Mondays to Fridays: 7:00am to 3:30pm, inclusive of 30 minute lunch break
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays or off-in-lieu of the

public holidays when the school is closed.
