Job description
About MR MARVIS
MR MARVIS is a fast-growing Amsterdam-based menswear brand on a mission to create iconic, high-quality wardrobe essentials. We are building a modern digital commerce platform that supports our international growth, operational excellence, and a seamless customer experience across markets.
Our Product, Engineering, Data & Experience (PEDX) team operates across the entire e-commerce stack from storefront experience and content management to search, integrations, operations, and foundational internal platform capabilities.
The role
We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our PEDX team and help shape the next phase of our digital platform.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role for someone who can move comfortably across frontend, backend, and platform work. You will help build and improve customer-facing experiences, strengthen our internal systems, and co-own critical technical domains that support our growth.
You will work closely with product, design, data, operations, and our Lead Engineer to turn business needs into robust, scalable, well-designed software.
What you'll do
- Build and improve modern full-stack applications using technologies such as Next.js, React, TypeScript, backend services, Sanity, Algolia, and Shopify.
- Take ownership of architectural decisions and technical delivery across key parts of our commerce platform.
- Help design and build our in-house integration platform, replacing dependency-heavy external workflows with reliable, observable, and maintainable systems.
- Improve the resilience of business-critical flows such as product data, orders, inventory, returns, and fulfilment integrations.
- Introduce and maintain strong engineering practices around code quality, testing, observability, documentation, and incident prevention.
- Mentor medior and junior engineers through pairing, review, coaching, and thoughtful technical guidance.
- Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to balance speed, quality, scalability, and business impact.
- Contribute to technical roadmaps, architecture decision records, and long-term platform direction.
What you'll bring
- Significant experience as a full stack engineer, preferably in a senior or lead capacity.
- Strong experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, and modern web application architecture.
- Solid backend engineering experience, including GCP Docker, Serverless, K8S, APIs, services, data flows, and integration patterns.
- Experience working with commerce, content, search, ERP, fulfilment, or other operational systems is a strong plus.
- A pragmatic engineering mindset: you know when to move fast, when to simplify, and when to invest in foundations.
- Comfortable owning complex technical domains independently while collaborating closely with others.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- A coaching mindset and the ability to raise the quality and confidence of the wider engineering team.
- Curiosity, accountability, and a strong product sense.
Our tech environment
While you don't need expertise in every single tool, you should be excited to work across a modern tech stack that includes:
- Next.js / React / TypeScript
- Backend services and APIs
- GCP
- Shopify
- Sanity
- Algolia
- Observability and reliability tooling
- Modern CI/CD, testing, and development workflows
Why join us
- A senior role with real ownership over architecture, delivery, and platform direction.
- The opportunity to work on business-critical systems that directly support international growth.
- A collaborative, ambitious team with short lines between product, engineering, operations, and leadership.
- Space to mentor others and shape engineering practices as the team scales.
- A modern commerce environment with meaningful technical challenges across frontend, backend, and integrations.
- A culture that values quality, accountability, pragmatism, and continuous improvement.
What you'll get
- 25 vacation days;
- A pension scheme, because later is also important;
- Mobility allowance in case you live outside of Amsterdam;
- All equipment needed to set you up for success;
- Daily free & fresh lunch served at the office;
- 20% discount on the entire MR MARVIS collection;
- Monthly "Wellbeing budget for Swapfiets, Treatwell, or several gyms. Want to invest your budget? You can, via Peaks!

- Join a B-corp and make a real impact;
- Working in a fun, international team at a fast growing scale-up;
- Amazing team events and weekly Friday drinks with your colleagues.
