Job description
Own the backend of a certified AI company at the point where it scales. Real customers, no layers, and a seat that grows into engineering lead. On-site in Dubai.
About Humai
Humai builds AI you can vouch for. Founded in Dubai in 2025, we exist for one problem: companies have adopted AI but will not rely on it for work with consequences. Our answer is one accountability model across two products. Huscribe for what AI does: it checks agentic workflows against what their owner approved. Mairit for what AI produces: it puts a qualified, accountable name on the work.
Audited to SOC 2 Type II and certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, both products in scope. Salesforce partner. Small team, founder-led, no layers.
The role
You own the backend across our products: services, APIs, data, jobs, integrations, and the practices that keep them reliable as customers and volume grow. You are the person the team looks to for how systems should be built, and you have the room to change what you inherit.
Our AI engineers build the models and pipelines. You build the platform they run on: queues, retries, cost and latency budgets, audit trails, tenancy, and the integration surfaces customers touch.
On-site in Dubai. We sponsor the employment visa.
Why take this seat
- Scope. The backend of two live products is yours, and so is the authority to change how it is built.
- Trajectory. This seat grows into the engineering lead role as the team grows. You get there by earning it, not by waiting.
- Pay. A salary set for a senior engineer, a UAE employment visa, and medical insurance.
- Tools. We build with AI every day and use agents we built ourselves inside the company. Expect the best tools on your desk, not a fight to get them.
- Standards. An environment audited to SOC 2 Type II and certified to ISO/IEC 27001 means the practices you set stick, and the customers we sell to take them seriously.
- Access. A short line to the founder and to the people who use what you build. Decisions take a conversation, not a quarter.
What you'll do
- Own architecture and delivery for our backend services, from design through production
- Write the architecture plan for the next stage of the platform, get it agreed, and ship it
- Set the engineering standard: code review, tests, CI/CD, rollbacks, monitoring and tracing, incident response
- Build and harden the integration surfaces: MCP, Salesforce and messaging integrations
- Design for security and audit from the start: authentication, tenancy, audit trails, data residency, secrets. We are audited to SOC 2 Type II and certified to ISO/IEC 27001, and engineering keeps it that way
- Run LLM pipelines in production properly: async job orchestration, provider failover, cost controls
- Raise the level of the engineers and contractors around you through review and example
What good looks like after a year
- Reliability is measured weekly and the numbers move the right way
- The architecture plan you wrote is approved and largely shipped
- Every service releases the same way, with tests and a rollback path
- New integrations ship in weeks and hold up in customer use
- Junior engineers and contractors ship faster because you set the standard
What you bring
- 4+ years building and running backend systems in production, and you have owned a service end to end: releases, on-call, incidents, recovery
- TypeScript and Node in production backend services, not only on the frontend. Python is a strong plus, since our AI pipelines live there
- Deep PostgreSQL: schema design, migrations, query performance
- APIs and async job systems other teams depend on: queues, retries, idempotency, versioning
- Cloud in production, ideally Azure: containers, managed services, networking, secrets, with CI/CD, automated tests and rollbacks you set up or ran
- Security from the engineering side: authentication, tenancy, audit logs, and what SOC 2 or ISO 27001 controls mean in code
- You ship end to end in a small team and write clearly
Nice to have
- Multi-tenant SaaS backends: OAuth or OIDC, RBAC, audit logging, data residency
- Salesforce platform work: Apex, packaging, platform events
- Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers or clients you have built
- Running LLM pipelines from the platform side: job orchestration, provider failover, cost and latency budgets
- Monitoring and tracing you set up: OpenTelemetry, structured logs, alerting, SLOs
- Backends for mobile apps and messaging platforms (WhatsApp Business API, Slack)
- Cloudflare
Not for you if
- You want a large team and a narrow lane
- You need a finished spec before you start
- You treat tests and security as someone else's job
- You are looking for a remote job
- You are looking for a 9-5 job
How we are hire
- Three conversations: a short intro call, a working session on a real problem from our codebase, and a final conversation with the founder. Apply on LinkedIn with a link to something you built.
