About the role: The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a pivotal role responsible for driving new, enterprise-level business for Avery Dennison’s Labeling and Sustainable Packaging solutions. You will identify, develop, and secure direct partnerships with Top FMCG brands and top-tier retailers across Europe, positioning Avery Dennison as their premier innovation partner. This role requires a highly successful track record of securing enterprise-level business opportunities specifically in labels or packaging. Acting as a trusted advisor to key decision-makers, you will navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments to deliver tailored solutions that shape the future of sustainable packaging. This is a hybrid position based at our European Headquarters in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands, or - remotely - from either Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany or France.

Key Responsibilities 

Leverage your existing network to build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers (Procurement, Packaging Development, Brand Management, Sustainability) across the leading European FMCGs, retailers and contract manufacturers.

Drive lead generation and cultivate a substantial pipeline of business opportunities; and manage accounts in SFDC while collaborating with sales colleagues to convert these leads into tangible outcomes resulting in specification of Avery Dennison labels at end users.

Identify unmet needs, provide insights and recommendations for product development and market positioning.

Navigate long, complex enterprise opportunity cycles, successfully transitioning concepts and sustainability initiatives into tangible commercial wins.

Establish strong links with the sales team to facilitate opportunities transfer to the converter channel for demand fulfillment.

Required:

Minimum of Bachelor's degree with a major in Marketing, Business, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

9+ years of direct B2B enterprise sales or business development experience specifically in labels, packaging materials, or packaging solutions (must-have requirement).

Proven track record of successfully targeting and generating labels or packaging materials opportunities with leading FMCG brands (e.g. in food, beverages and HPC) and major European retailers with an active, relevant network of decision-makers.

Skills you need to succeed:

Strong analytical skills, technical aptitude, and influencing/storytelling abilities with a demonstrated track record of scaling multimillion-dollar portfolios.

Fluency in English (additional languages such as French and German are strongly preferred) and the ability to travel up to 50%.
