Job description

adidas International Trading AG is looking for a Director Global Procurement responsible for delivering superior results and competitive advantage in the area of Distribution and Warehousing. In the role you will co-orchestrate Logistics spend to get the best value for adidas while improving our supply chain efficiency and resilience through breakthrough ideas, best-in-class approaches, robust sourcing cycle and supplier relationship management. Ultimately balance total cost of ownership while defining the strategic and tactical direction.

You will confidently lead transformation and optimization of procurement processes and interface with cross-functional stakeholders to provide efficiencies across areas, regions, and categories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own, lead and execute the creation and implementation of category, sourcing, and supplier strategies for adidas Distribution Network

  • Relentlessly challenge the status quo and focus on larger-scale impact by using in-depth insights & benchmarking to uncover breakthrough opportunities for adidas Distribution network

  • As Procurement project lead, run tenders, manage CAPEX & OPEX, zero-based budgeting, sourcing, and optimization projects

  • Create concepts, business cases & analysis and enable them via exceptional and fit for purpose communication to all levels of organization and project management

  • Continuously assess current Procurement practices and effectively apply strategic sourcing methodologies to identify opportunities for cost-reduction

  • Design optimum cost governance and spend policies ensuring compliance across organization

  • Build, coordinate and manage cross-functional network in the organization and navigate the process to define value, spend parameters, quality & services levels, and address cost drivers

  • Continuous learning and development of relevant procurement/category knowledge and methodologies driving innovation and continuous improvement within the procurement function

  • Pro-actively enable and ensure transparency of spend and drive for an optimization of efficiency (procedures and cost) in collaboration with adidas Business functions Key Relationships:

  • Global Logistics, Distribution & Engineering

  • Regional & Local Supply Chain and Operations Leadership and Teams

  • Key business functions like Legal, Finance & Controlling, Insurance, Global Business Services)

  • Suppliers Executives, Leadership and Sales Managers Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Expert and detailed knowledge in the area of Warehousing & Distribution processes and Supply Chain Management with excellent track record in the Procurement/Consulting/Industry

  • Very good knowledge of Warehouse Automation & Material Handling Equipment

  • Very good knowledge of Sourcing and Procurement methodologies and concepts

  • Substantial experience working on strategic projects (Consulting experience preferred)

  • Proven ability to develop and implement category strategies, select, manage, and build partnerships with suppliers and develop best legal frameworks

  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization, including senior leaders and experience delivering through others and partnering with multiple business functions

  • Tech savvy

  • Ambitious, entrepreneurial, pragmatic, commercial, highly analytical, clear communicator, comfortable with ambiguity

  • Strategic mindset with an ability to think broadly, refine questions, and develop analytical frameworks

  • Excel at solving unstructured problems

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written at all levels of the organization, ability to produce clear and insightful presentations that deliver key messages at the appropriate level of detail, incorporating input from multiple stakeholders Basic Requirements:

  • University degree with emphasis on the areas of Engineering, Transport & Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Procurement

  • At least 10+ years working experience with 5+ years of experience in similar or adequate role in Procurement, Consulting or Logistics environment

  • Fluent in English, spoken and written
