Job description
Commercial Manager OTC Medical Devices
1.0 FTE (40h) · Muiden, near Amsterdam · office-based with international travel · m/v
Join Our Transformative Team: Drive the Market Presence of OTC Medical Devices!
This is a hunting role at heart. You own commercial strategy and drive sales performance end-to-end: you find new distributors and you grow the ones you land. At Pronova we make medical self-care products people actually use, not concepts that disappear in a drawer. Our flagship products FORWARTS
®
and LICENER
®
are already international successes and that is the starting point. We are building a much larger international footprint, and we need people whose job is to go and win it: find new markets and land new distributors. You grow our commercial reach, open new markets, and build the relationships that put our products on shelves worldwide. At the same time, you help define where we go next.
The company
Pronova Laboratories BV, based in Muiden (near Amsterdam), develops, registers, produces and sells innovative and effective OTC medical self-care devices. Our products are sold worldwide through distributors, in pharmacies and drug stores. With distinctive product innovations that truly make a difference, we aim to open new categories for treating everyday physical ailments and strive to provide millions of people with more direct, faster, and easier access to self-care. We are a small company that works with the big players in the OTC market, so our reach is global. Our success is built on innovation, years of experience and a worldwide network of suppliers and distributors.
The team
We are a young, dynamic team with a flat structure and an informal atmosphere. A close group of experienced professionals working together to serve our international customers. You get the freedom and the responsibility to run your own projects and make impact. You are not on the sidelines here. You are at the center of strategy, sales, and market reality where decisions are fast and ownership is real.
What you'll really do
Your core: win new business, then grow it (this is where most of your time goes)
1. Drive international sales: open new markets and win distributors.
You own the full new-business cycle: identify and prioritize target markets, prospect and qualify distributors, pharmacy chains and retail partners, build compelling commercial propositions, and negotiate and close distribution agreements. You understand our products in depth and translate their value into strong commercial propositions that win shelf space and long-term partnerships. Cold outreach, persistent follow-up and international visits are part of the job.
2. Grow what you harvest: build and grow key accounts.
The distributors you win are yours to grow. You build strong, long-term relationships, expand the account and support successful product launches with international distributors (more of the portfolio, more indications, better sell-out) and keep it healthy. You hunt most of the time and farm what you have harvested. You are the trusted point of contact for key accounts, ensuring smooth collaboration, solving issues quickly, and identifying opportunities for growth. Strong partnerships lead to repeat business and expanding markets.
3. Business development & market intelligence: turn market insights into strategy .
You actively track market trends, competition, emerging consumer unmet needs and turn that into a view on which markets to enter next, feeding your own pipeline and flagging opportunities to R&D and management. You identify unmet needs, define clear value propositions, and translate market insights into opportunities for new products or improvements. This is intelligence that sharpens the hunt.
4. Marketing support for launches: shape the product portfolio and market positioning.
You deploy the central marketing toolkits and support distributor launches so new partners ramp quickly. You help guide the direction of our product portfolio: strengthen our online marketing strategy and the overall portfolio positioning by feeding back market and product insights to the team. You use marketing to win and grow deals, working closely with R&D and Regulatory Affairs, you contribute to product requirements, compliant claims, and strong positioning.
What we're looking for
You are a hunter first. You like the chase, you handle rejection, and you close. You enjoy growing the accounts you land.
● Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, marketing, life sciences, or a related field
● 4+ years of international B2B experience in a commercial role, preferably in medical devices, pharma, or OTC healthcare.
● A proven new-business track record, distributors and markets you personally opened and closed, combined with solid account-growth discipline.
● Affinity with regulated products and the ability to navigate the CE-marked / OTC medical device landscape.
● Strong analytical mindset: you back your strategy with data, not gut feeling alone
● Strong negotiator and communicator; self-starting, resilient and structured.
● Proactive, entrepreneurial attitude with a structured way of working
● Fluent English and Spanish is required, Dutch is preferred.
● Willing to travel internationally; based at our Muiden office.
Who this role fits
Someone who wants to see their deals land on pharmacy shelves in new countries. Someone who thrives on opening doors and values ownership and real commercial impact over a comfortable routine.
