As Team Lead Legal - Legal Counsel, you are responsible for the legal function across LYNX and provide strategic direction on legal matters throughout the organisation. You lead a team of legal professionals and ensure that LYNX operates within a robust legal framework across its international activities.

In this role, you act as a trusted advisor to management and work closely with Compliance, Risk, Finance, Operations, IT and other departments. You oversee the company-wide legal roadmap, monitor regulatory developments and translate complex legal requirements into practical guidance for the business.

You combine hands-on legal expertise with leadership and governance. From supporting regulatory requests and cross-border legal matters to strengthening internal policies and developing your team, you ensure that LYNX remains legally prepared, well-governed and ready to respond to an evolving regulatory landscape.

What you’ll do

  • You will play a key role in safeguarding LYNX’ legal and regulatory integrity.
  • Providing legal and regulatory support and conducting legal and regulatory research and translating complex regulations into practical advice and clear documentation
  • Lead and supervise a team of legal and support professionals, providing guidance, coaching and clear accountability.
  • Own and maintain the company-wide legal roadmap and legal mandate, ensuring timely and actionable reporting to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and continuously improve the legal framework across the organisation, aligned with Dutch and European regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and oversee the annual legal roadmap, including horizon scanning and monitoring new laws and regulations.
  • Act as the internal point of contact for legal matters and advise departments including Compliance, Risk, Finance, Operations and IT.
  • Represent LYNX on legal matters towards regulators, affiliates, auditors and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensure internal policies, SOPs and related legal documentation remain accurate, accessible and aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee cross-border legal matters and coordinate legal topics across LYNX's international organisation.
  • Drive continuous improvement of legal processes, strengthening legal risk awareness, governance and operational efficiency.
  • Take end-to-end accountability for legal outcomes and contribute to LYNX's regulatory readiness.
  • Provide strategic direction for the legal function, including team development, delegation and alignment with wider company objectives.

Who you are

You are a senior legal professional with proven experience in legal advisory, governance and financial services. You combine strong legal expertise with a pragmatic and business-oriented approach and are comfortable taking ownership of complex legal matters.

You are able to advise senior stakeholders, lead a team and translate regulatory requirements into practical solutions. You work in a structured and proactive way, anticipate legal risks and are comfortable operating in an international and highly regulated environment.

In addition, you have:

  • Extensive experience as an external lawyer and/or in-house Legal Counsel, including legal advisory and governance responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch legislation and financial regulatory frameworks, including the BW, Wft, Bgfo and Wwft.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant European regulatory frameworks, such as MAR, GDPR, DORA, MiFID II, IFR and IFD.
  • A strong understanding of outsourcing arrangements, partnership structures and third-party risk management.
  • Experience with cross-border legal matters and international regulatory coordination.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
  • Professional fluency in both Dutch and English.
  • The ability to communicate complex legal matters clearly to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism and regulatory awareness.

Nice to have

  • Previous leadership experience, ideally managing a small, high-impact legal team.
  • Experience within a brokerage, investment firm or execution-only financial services environment.
  • Experience working with regulators and other external supervisory stakeholders.
  • Experience developing or maturing a legal function within an international organisation.
