Mason (Engineering)

Position Overview

The Mason is responsible for carrying out masonry, civil, tiling, plastering, and general building maintenance works within the hotel. The role ensures that all assigned work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard while maintaining the appearance and functionality of the hotel's facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general masonry and civil maintenance works throughout the hotel and staff facilities.
• Carry out plastering, brickwork, blockwork, concrete repairs, and surface finishing.
• Repair and replace damaged tiles, floor tiles, wall tiles, and grout.
• Carry out minor repairs to walls, ceilings, floors, pathways, and other building structures.
• Prepare surfaces for painting, plastering, tiling, or other finishing works.
• Repair cracks, holes, damaged surfaces, and other building defects.
• Assist with waterproofing and minor water-leak repair works where required.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance in guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, staff accommodation, and other hotel facilities.
• Ensure completed work meets the required quality and finishing standards.
• Inspect assigned areas and report major structural or maintenance issues to the Engineering Supervisor.
• Follow approved work orders and maintenance schedules.
• Use masonry tools, equipment, and materials correctly and safely.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Ensure proper storage and economical use of construction and maintenance materials.
• Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized during and after completion of tasks.
• Follow all hotel health, safety, fire, and environmental procedures.
• Coordinate with other Engineering team members when carrying out maintenance works.
• Assist other Engineering sections when required, particularly during urgent maintenance situations.
• Ensure minimum disruption to hotel guests and daily operations while performing maintenance work.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer or Engineering Supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience

• Background : CIVIL
• Minimum Experience : 5 Years ( Hospitality / Maintenance / Facility Management )
• ITI or equivalent trade certificate
• Good practical knowledge of brickwork, blockwork, plastering, tiling, grouting, and concrete repairs.
• Ability to read and understand basic work instructions.
• Knowledge of basic building maintenance practices.
• Previous hotel experience is an advantage.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions

• Full-time position based at Mercure Hotel Suites & Apartments, Barsha Heights, Dubai.
• The role involves physical work, including standing, bending, lifting, and working at different heights when required.

Pay: AED2,200.00 per month
