Job Description

Are you looking for a challenging role that offers you the freedom to grow and develop within an organization that highly values independence and responsibility?

Our successful Environmental Services team in the Benelux is currently looking for a (Junior) Soil Consultant for our office in The Hague. In this role, you will work within a dynamic team that delivers a wide range of projects, primarily for international private-sector clients in the Netherlands and abroad. These projects include complex soil investigations, remediation technologies and remediation projects, risk assessments, and the appropriate follow-up after the completion of complex remediation projects.

As a (Junior) Consultant, you will have a challenging and varied workload, taking responsibility for the execution of small, large, and complex projects related to soil and groundwater. You will also have the opportunity to support other environmental projects.

Key Responsibilities :

• Conduct desk studies, site investigations, complex modeling for remediation solutions, research into remediation technologies, groundwater modeling, and reporting.
• Monitor and verify the remediation contractor's work to ensure compliance with the remediation plan.
• Analyze and interpret field and laboratory data to develop accurate and comprehensive conceptual site models and groundwater models.
• Coordinate subcontractors performing fieldwork and supervise soil investigation activities.
• Collect soil and groundwater data during assessment and remediation activities.
• Maintain regular contact with regulatory authorities regarding the progress of remediation projects.
• Coordinate and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and various laboratories.
• As part of our team, you will be expected to incorporate safety, quality, and customer focus into your daily activities. You will participate in all safety initiatives, ensure your own safety and that of your colleagues, and support safety objectives through orientation, training, and coaching. AECOM has a strong safety culture that is supported throughout the company worldwide.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Geography, Bioengineering, or another technical, environmental, or chemical discipline.
• Native or fluent Dutch speaker with strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Some experience in a similar role within environmental consulting is an advantage, as is an affinity for soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects. You are confident in client communication, relationship building, and stakeholder management.
• Ability to make decisions and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a thorough approach to work.
• Good knowledge of Dutch soil and groundwater legislation (both historical and current). Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
• Experience with both conventional remediation projects and innovative remediation technologies currently available in the market is considered an asset.
• An innovative mindset, with a strong interest in self-development, taking initiative, and working within a young and dynamic team.
• Willingness to travel primarily within the Netherlands and occasionally abroad when required.
• Valid Category B driver's license.
