Job Summary

The Construction Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring health and safety procedures at construction sites. The role ensures compliance with company policies, applicable laws, client requirements, and project HSE standards while promoting a strong safety culture among employees, subcontractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions and practices.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Monitor construction activities and ensure safe work practices are followed.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and regular safety awareness sessions.
• Prepare and maintain risk assessments, inspection checklists, and safety reports.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor the use of PPE and ensure workers are properly trained in its use.
• Ensure proper implementation of permit-to-work systems.
• Monitor high-risk activities such as working at height, lifting operations, excavation, scaffolding, hot work, and confined-space work.
• Inspect scaffolding, ladders, lifting equipment, excavation areas, electrical installations, and other site facilities.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness drills and ensure emergency procedures are understood.
• Stop unsafe work when there is an immediate risk to workers, property, or the environment.
• Liaise with site management, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and client HSE representatives.
• Maintain HSE records, inspection reports, training records, and incident documentation.
• Follow up on corrective and preventive actions until closure.
• Support internal and external HSE audits and inspections.
• Promote environmental protection and good housekeeping practices on site.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
• NEBOSH IGC or equivalent safety qualification preferred.
• IOSH certification is an advantage.
• First Aid and Fire Safety training/certification preferred.
• Relevant construction safety experience.

Experience

• Typically 2–3 years of experience in construction HSE/safety.
• Experience with civil, building, infrastructure, MEP, or industrial construction projects is an advantage.
• UAE/GCC construction experience is preferred for positions in the region.

• Ability to work effectively under site and project deadlines.

Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED4,000.00 per month
