Job description
A resin art worker, or resin artist, is a creative professional or artisan who uses epoxy resin—a two-part liquid polymer—mixed with hardeners, colorants, and additives to create glossy, durable, and often three-dimensional, art pieces or functional homeware. This role combines creative design with technical chemical knowledge, as the artist must manage the curing process to achieve specific effects.
Key Job Functions
- Preparation & Safety: Preparing work surfaces (often wood, canvas, or molds), leveling surfaces, and ensuring proper ventilation and PPE (respirators, nitrile gloves) are used to handle chemical fumes and avoid skin contact.
- Mixing & Coloring: Measuring and mixing epoxy resin and hardener accurately, then adding pigments, alcohol inks, micas, or glitter to create desired colors and effects.
- Pouring & Designing: Pouring the resin onto surfaces or into molds to create abstract art, ocean-themed beach scenes, geode effects, or to embed objects like dried flowers or shells.
- Manipulating & Curing: Using heat tools (blowtorches, heat guns) to move resin, create cells, or remove bubbles. Monitoring the curing time, which can take 24 hours or more.
- Finishing: Sanding, polishing, or adding subsequent layers of resin to achieve a flawless, glassy, or high-gloss finish.
- Production & Sales: Creating both functional items (coasters, serving boards, jewelry) and fine art (wall hangings, sculptures) for sale online, at craft fairs, or through commissions
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Artistic Vision: Ability to work with color theory, fluid dynamics, and composition to produce vibrant, unique designs.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of different resin types (casting, coating, deep pour), curing times, and chemical safety.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in measuring and mixing to avoid defects like "fish eyes" (dimples), soft spots, or unwanted bubbles.
- Patience & Time Management: Ability to plan for long curing times and work within the "pot time" (working window) before the resin hardens.
- Hand-on Experience: Expertise in tools like heat guns, molds, and sanding equipment
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: AED1,800.00 - AED2,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
