Senior Electrical Engineer

Our sister company, Barbuda Electromechanical Works LLC, is looking for a highly experienced and competent Senior Electrical Engineer with strong experience in high-rise building projects in the UAE.

Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and delivering all electrical works for high-rise building projects. The candidate must ensure that all electrical systems are executed according to approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, authority requirements and the approved programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the execution of all electrical works, including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, earthing, lightning protection, fire alarm and ELV systems.
• Review contract documents, technical specifications, BOQs, approved drawings and project requirements.
• Review electrical shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and technical documents before submission.
• Prepare work programmes, manpower requirements, material schedules and installation plans.
• Coordinate electrical services with mechanical, civil, structural, architectural and façade works.
• Identify and resolve design conflicts, installation issues and MEP coordination clashes.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and relevant authorities.
• Monitor daily site activities and ensure that all works are completed according to the approved programme.
• Ensure electrical installations comply with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards and UAE authority requirements.
• Review electrical load schedules, voltage-drop calculations, short-circuit calculations and cable-sizing requirements.
• Review equipment selections, technical data, calculations and supplier submissions.
• Prepare and follow up RFIs, MIRs, WIRs and inspection requests.
• Monitor material procurement, delivery, consumption and availability at the project site.
• Supervise subcontractors and site teams and monitor their performance and productivity.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure the timely correction of non-conformities and technical observations.
• Attend progress, technical and coordination meetings with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports for project management.
• Coordinate inspections, testing and commissioning of all electrical and ELV systems.
• Manage snagging activities and ensure the timely closure of consultant and client comments.
• Coordinate authority inspections, approvals, energization and permanent power connections.
• Assist in preparing variations, additional-work evaluations and technical clarifications.
• Ensure compliance with the company’s quality, health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Prepare and submit as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties and final handover documents.
• Support the MEP Project Manager in completing the electrical scope within the approved budget and project schedule.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Six to ten years of relevant experience in MEP construction.
• Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer on high-rise building projects.
• Strong UAE experience in high-rise building construction is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, earthing, lightning protection and ELV systems.
• Good knowledge of UAE authority regulations, construction codes and technical standards.
• Experience in electrical installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, energization and final handover.
• Strong technical, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and workers.
• Excellent communication, reporting and team-management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office and relevant electrical engineering software.
