Electrical Site Engineer

Our sister company, Barbuda Electromechanical Works LLC, is looking for an experienced and competent Electrical Site Engineer with strong experience in high-rise building projects in the UAE.

Job Summary

The Electrical Site Engineer will be responsible for coordinating, supervising and executing all electrical works for high-rise building projects. The candidate must ensure that all electrical installations are completed according to approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, authority requirements and the approved programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the execution of electrical works, including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, earthing, lightning protection, fire alarm and ELV systems.
• Review contract documents, technical specifications, BOQs, approved drawings and project requirements.
• Review electrical shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and technical documents.
• Prepare daily work plans, manpower requirements, material schedules and installation programmes.
• Coordinate electrical services with mechanical, plumbing, civil, structural and architectural works.
• Identify and resolve design conflicts, installation issues and MEP coordination clashes.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and relevant authorities.
• Monitor daily site activities and ensure that all works are completed according to the approved programme.
• Ensure electrical installations comply with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards and UAE authority requirements.
• Check the proper installation of conduits, cable trays, trunking, cables, distribution boards, switchgear, lighting fixtures and electrical equipment.
• Verify cable routes, containment layouts, equipment locations, sleeves and openings before installation.
• Prepare and follow up RFIs, MIRs, WIRs and inspection requests.
• Monitor material procurement, delivery, consumption and availability at the project site.
• Supervise subcontractors, supervisors and workers and monitor their performance and productivity.
• Conduct regular site inspections and ensure the timely correction of non-conformities and technical observations.
• Attend progress, technical and coordination meetings with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports for project management.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical, fire alarm and ELV systems.
• Manage snagging activities and ensure the timely closure of consultant and client comments.
• Coordinate authority inspections, approvals, energization and permanent power connections.
• Assist in preparing variations, additional-work evaluations and technical clarifications.
• Ensure compliance with the company’s quality, health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Prepare and submit as-built drawings, testing records, O&M manuals, warranties and final handover documents.
• Support the MEP Project Manager in completing the electrical scope within the approved budget and project schedule.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Six to ten years of relevant experience in MEP construction.
• Proven experience as an Electrical Site Engineer on high-rise building projects.
• Strong UAE experience in high-rise building construction is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, earthing, lightning protection and ELV systems.
• Good knowledge of UAE authority regulations, construction codes and technical standards.
• Experience in electrical installation, inspection, testing, commissioning and final handover.
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, specifications and BOQs.
• Strong site coordination, technical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage supervisors, subcontractors and site workers.
• Excellent communication, reporting and team-coordination skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office and relevant engineering software.
