Job Summary

The EV Team Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating a team of technicians and engineers involved in the diagnosis, maintenance, repair, commissioning, and technical support of electric vehicles and their associated systems. The role ensures that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and allocate daily work to EV technicians and support staff.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex faults involving:
  • High-voltage (HV) battery systems
  • Electric motors and inverters
  • Battery Management Systems (BMS)
  • Charging systems and EVSE
  • DC/DC converters and onboard chargers
  • Vehicle control units and CAN communication
  • Thermal management systems
  • Ensure safe isolation, de-energization, testing, and re-energization of high-voltage systems.
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Review diagnostic results and provide technical guidance to technicians.
  • Perform or supervise advanced electrical and electronic diagnostics using OEM diagnostic equipment.
  • Ensure accurate completion of job cards, inspection reports, diagnostic reports, and maintenance records.
  • Monitor team productivity, quality, turnaround time, and technical performance.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, technical briefings, and on-the-job training.
  • Ensure compliance with HV safety procedures, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and workshop safety standards.
  • Coordinate with engineering, service, parts, warranty, and operations teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Support vehicle commissioning, testing, software updates, calibration, and system validation.
  • Investigate recurring failures and contribute to root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, HV test equipment, and safety equipment.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal procedures for EV batteries and related components.
  • Escalate critical technical, safety, or quality issues to management.
  • Stay current with EV technologies, OEM technical bulletins, regulations, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant technical certification in electric/hybrid vehicle systems is preferred.
  • Valid training/certification for high-voltage vehicle systems is strongly preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of automotive, EV, electrical, or mechatronics experience.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory/team-lead role preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting high-voltage EV systems.
  • Experience with OEM diagnostic tools and vehicle communication systems such as CAN bus.
  • Workshop, fleet, dealership, manufacturing, or EV service experience is advantageous.
