Production Coordination & Institutional Outreach (XR Installation)

Present Futures is a Berlin studio for immersive media art working at the intersection of XR, documentary practice, and community-based work, founded by artist and director Chloé Lee and technical director Lucas Martinic. Our projects (including Reflections of Little Red Dot — SXSW XR Jury Prize, Venice Immersive) tour internationally. We are currently producing Inter(mediate) Spaces (funded by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg).

About the project

Inter(mediate) Spaces is a multi-user mixed-reality installation where strangers encounter a living archive of reflections on community, memory, and technology gathered across cities worldwide. Two participants begin at opposite ends of a shared environment and move through a living archive built from cross-city Living Lab contributions — audio reflections and images on belonging, technology, and future community. As they encounter these voices and meet in the center, their own dialogue is interpreted by a custom AI system that transforms their surroundings in real time. The work asks whether emerging AI systems can deepen reflection and connection rather than distance us from one another. Every new city where the work is shown can become part of the archive through its own Living Lab.

We're looking for freelance support for production coordination and institutional partnerships, starting October 2026.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and following up on our international institutional pipeline (museums, festivals, cultural institutions across Europe, North and South America, Asia) in close coordination with Chloé
• Local and community outreach: approaching venues, partner organizations, and Living Lab participants, building local relationships, managing consent processes
• Coordinating presentations and Living Labs (logistics, run-of-show, participant care), including a US engagement in late 2026
• Preparing outreach materials (decks, one-pagers, technical riders)
• Coordinating press work
• Production coordination toward the Q4 2027 premiere

Profile

• Experience in production or cultural management (festival, venue, independent arts scene, or similar)
• Own network in the Berlin/European cultural landscape a plus
• Experience in community-based work or participatory projects a plus
• Fluent German and English (both are working languages)
• Independent, reliable working style — this role lives on consistent follow-up discipline
• XR/immersive media experience is a plus, not a requirement

Terms

• Retainer of €2,300/month on a freelance basis, equivalent to approx. 7 working days/month
• Duration: October 2026 through project wrap (approx. 13 months), with additional capacity by arrangement during intensive phases around the premiere
• Prospect of longer-term collaboration with the studio
• Based in Berlin, hybrid
