Job Description – Mechanical / Civil Site Engineer

Job Purpose

The Mechanical / Civil Site Engineer will be responsible for supervising and coordinating civil and mechanical construction activities for renewable energy projects, particularly solar PV installations. The role ensures that all site works are executed safely, according to approved drawings and specifications, within the planned schedule, and in compliance with project quality requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesCivil Works

• Supervise site civil works including excavation, grading, earthworks, foundations, concrete works, drainage and related infrastructure.
• Monitor construction of equipment foundations, inverter/transformer foundations, control rooms, cable trenches and internal roads.
• Ensure civil activities are carried out as per approved IFC drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Coordinate survey, setting-out and level verification activities.
• Monitor subcontractors and site teams to ensure productivity and timely completion.
• Verify quantities and completed works for progress reporting and subcontractor measurements.
• Identify site discrepancies and coordinate with engineering teams for technical clarification.

Mechanical / Solar Installation

• Supervise installation of solar PV module mounting structures, trackers and associated mechanical components.
• Monitor assembly, alignment, leveling and torqueing of mounting structures.
• Ensure correct installation of modules in accordance with approved drawings and manufacturer requirements.
• Coordinate mechanical installation activities with civil and electrical teams.
• Inspect delivered materials and ensure proper handling, storage and installation.
• Support equipment installation activities including inverters, transformers and other renewable energy equipment where applicable.

Site Coordination & Project Control

• Coordinate daily site activities with subcontractors, consultants and project teams.
• Prepare daily and weekly progress reports.
• Monitor actual progress against the approved construction schedule.
• Identify potential delays, constraints and site issues and report them to the Project Manager.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment and material requirements.
• Attend site coordination and progress meetings.
• Maintain records of inspections, approvals, site instructions and completed works.

Quality & HSE

• Ensure works comply with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements and project specifications.
• Coordinate with QA/QC personnel for inspections and approvals.
• Ensure all site activities comply with company and project HSE requirements.
• Promote safe working practices and immediately report unsafe conditions.
• Assist in resolving NCRs, observations and quality-related issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2–5 years of site engineering experience in construction, infrastructure, industrial or renewable energy projects.
• Experience in Solar PV / Renewable Energy projects will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of civil construction works, structural installation and mechanical site activities.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office and basic project planning/reporting tools.
• Knowledge of UAE construction standards and site practices will be an advantage.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with previous experience in Solar PV plants, rooftop solar, ground-mounted solar projects, renewable energy projects, substations or related infrastructure works will be preferred.

Other Requirements

• Willingness to work at project sites and travel when required.
• Valid UAE driving licence will be an advantage.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment.

Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED7,500.00 per month
