Senior Test Automation Engineer - Financial Applications

Amsterdam, Netherlands Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office Contract: October 2026 - June 2027

We are looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to join a leading financial services organisation, working on critical mortgage and financial application systems . Experience as Tester, Automation Tester, Test Specialist, Test Engineer, Tsten or similar

This is a hands-on testing role focused on test automation, API testing and virtualised test environments . We're particularly interested in candidates with proven testing experience within banking, financial services, mortgages or other regulated environments .

Fluent Dutch & English needed.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and maintain automated regression and end-to-end tests
• Test complex financial applications and system integration's
• Perform API testing across a complex application landscape
• Work with automation tools such as Selenium, REST Assured or similar
• Build and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites
• Create and maintain virtualised/containerised test environments
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Use Azure DevOps to support automated testing and deployment processes
• Test and support software releases
• Investigate defects and troubleshoot issues across application and integration layers
• Work closely with developers, business stakeholders and other testing teams
• Contribute to improving test processes, automation and overall software quality
• Work within an Agile/Scrum environment

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Senior Test Engineer, Test Automation Engineer, QA Automation Engineer or SDET
• Strong hands-on experience with test automation
• Proven experience testing financial applications within banking, financial services or another regulated organisation
• Strong API testing experience
• Experience with Selenium, REST Assured or comparable automation tools
• Experience working with virtual test environments
• Hands-on experience with Docker
• Experience with Kubernetes is highly desirable
• Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD
• Strong understanding of regression, integration and end-to-end testing
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
• ISTQB certification is highly desirable

The ideal candidate

We're looking for someone who is technically strong, hands-on and passionate about software quality .

You should be comfortable taking ownership of the testing process, building automation, investigating complex issues and challenging the team where quality can be improved.

A strong background in financial application testing , combined with test automation, API testing and Docker/Kubernetes experience , would make you a particularly strong fit.

Desired Skills and Experience We're looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer with a strong background in financial services testing who enjoys working on complex applications and building automation that genuinely improves quality.

You'll be a strong fit if you have experience with:

* Test Automation - strong hands-on experience building automated regression/E2E tests

* Selenium / REST Assured or similar automation frameworks

* API Testing - experience testing complex APIs and system integrations

* Docker - experience creating and working with virtual/containerised test environments

* Kubernetes - experience working with containerised environments is highly desirable

* Azure DevOps & CI/CD - integrating automated testing into delivery pipelines

* Java - particularly within test automation

* Financial Services - proven experience testing banking, mortgage or other financial applications

* ISTQB - certification is highly desirable

* Agile/Scrum - comfortable working in modern engineering teams
