About the Role

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer for one of our reputed clients to strengthen quality across their SAP change chain. This is not a classic "write and execute test cases" role — it's a senior, strategic position for someone who can improve how quality is built into the process from requirements through release.

Today, requirements at our client pass through many hands — proposition manager, slicing teams, business, business consultants, PM, PO, functional analysts, and ABAP developers — and get reinterpreted at each step. As a result, functional analysts end up doing both requirements analysis and testing, and the Functional Acceptance Test (FAT) has become an overloaded safety net because confidence in the General Acceptance Test (GAT) is too low. There is currently no explicit testing strategy, and test automation isn't yet tied to one.

Our client needs someone who can fix this at the root: better requirements earlier, a clear risk-based test strategy, automation aligned to that strategy, and a GAT strong enough that FAT can go back to being a final check rather than a crutch.

Goals

•     Enable requirements to be validated and tested earlier in the process

•     Make quality risks visible across the chain

•     Introduce an appropriate testing strategy and quality approach

•     Align test automation with the overall quality approach

•     Strengthen the GAT and reduce reliance on extended FAT

Key Responsibilities Requirements quality

•     Improve the quality, completeness, and testability of requirements

•     Introduce and supervise BDD / Example Mapping sessions with stakeholders

•     Facilitate 3 Amigos sessions with Business Consultants, Functionals, and ABAP Developers

•     Establish quality guidelines for epics, features, and stories, and secure stakeholder buy-in

•     Conduct requirement reviews and discuss feedback with stakeholders, checking for:

•     Unambiguity

•     Completeness

•     Testability

•     Acceptance criteria

•     Impact on processes

Quality assurance in the value delivery stream

•     Define and set up test and quality gates across refinement, development, deployment, testing, and release

•     Define and set up a risk-based testing strategy

•     Work with the Test Automation Engineer to:

•     Link automation to testable requirements (BDD / Specification by Example)

•     Embed automation into the team's daily practice

•     Develop a regression testing strategy for critical processes

•     Establish clear roles and responsibilities across the test chain

Strengthening GAT, reducing dependence on FAT

•     Analyze escaped defects — where issues were introduced vs. where they were found

•     Improve GAT scenarios and coverage

•     Set up a quality gate for GAT completion

•     Monitor traceability between business objectives, requirements, and tests (including automated tests)

Building quality maturity in the team

•     Perform root cause analyses

•     Identify recurring quality problems and initiate improvement actions

•     Coach Business Consultants, POs, PMs, Functionals, Developers, and the Test Automation Engineer

•     Provide quality insight via dashboards and management reporting

What You Bring

•     HBO+ level, Computer Science or Business Informatics (or equivalent experience)

•     5+ years of experience in a similar QA engineering role

•     Experience in SAP environments

•     Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder chains

•     Experience in scaled agile environments (LeSS, SAFe)

•     Demonstrable experience with BDD / Specification by Example

•     Experience with Requirements Engineering

•     Experience with DevOps and quality processes

•     Solid understanding of test automation

Competencies

•      Persuasive — able to bring others along in quality improvements

•      Analytical — sees through complex processes, requirements, and dependencies

•      Critical thinker — willing to ask hard questions about assumptions and ambiguity

•      Stakeholder management — moves easily between business, consultants, functionals, and developers

•      Quality-conscious — focuses on preventive detection and built-in, first-time-right quality rather than fixing after the fact

•      Initiative — proactively proposes and drives improvements
