Position Paralegal / Legal Assistant at a Japanese Law Firm

Job Responsibilities

• Legal support and related legal operations
• Handling cross-border matters and international projects
• Translation of legal and business documents
• Documentation management and preparation
• Other ad hoc duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above
• Strong ability to draft accurate and professional documents in Japanese
• Comfortable working in an English-speaking environment
• Proficiency in basic PC applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to leverage AI tools and other technologies to conduct contract reviews and legal research
• Able to balance both accuracy and efficiency in daily work
• Strong multitasking and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality and legal ethics

Preferred Experience And Skills

• Native or business-fluent Japanese language proficiency (required for both internal and external communications)
• Experience working in a law firm or an in-house legal department, with preference given to candidates with in-house legal experience
• Experience handling English-language contracts and other legal documents
• Candidates with experience reviewing English contracts within a corporate legal department will be highly preferred

Location Tokyo or Singapore. Candidates based in Tokyo may work fully remotely.
