Job Description
- Contribute towards the production of daily news bulletins and specials. This will include stacking rundowns, writing stories, integrating graphics and video/images to tell compelling, relevant stories.
- Depending on work experience, direct production of news programmes by assigning stories to writers, coordinating requests for graphics, planning sequences with the studio crew, and executing live programmes.
- Produce news packages using wire agency material, conceptualising and writing scripts, integrating relevant soundbites, and editing packages.
- Break news on air quickly and accurately. React to developing stories, amend scripts and bulletin rundowns to reflect the new line-up of stories.
- Conceptualise graphics, including Augmented Reality graphics, to tell stories in a more dynamic and interactive manner.
- Identify relevant topics for interviews and potential analysts, CEOs, news makers, etc. Research and develop a line of questioning with editors and presenters aimed at breaking news and getting scoops.
- Maintain updated knowledge of global developments by monitoring trends, competitors' activities and viewers' feedback, and contextualising stories for an Asian audience.
- Uphold and maintain news programme quality by performing regular checks, reviewing feedback, and identifying areas where improvement is necessary.
- Ensure editorial guidelines of the Company and policies set by regulators are strictly adhered to.
- As needed, vet inserts, packages, and reports put together by other team members to make sure scripts are accurate, succinct, and ready for air.
- Familiarity with using artificial intelligence tools to assist with research, brainstorm story ideas and improve day-to-day workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
- Possess a relevant degree
- Two years of experience in a newsroom, including internships, is preferred
- Applicants with experience in communications or public relations will be considered
- Working knowledge of video editing systems
- Excellent command of English
- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Be prepared to work irregular hours
