About the Role

We are looking for a Data Centre Associate Manager with strong expertise in mechanical, HVAC and cooling systems to support the operations of a high-density, mission-critical data centre environment.

You will assist the Data Centre Operations Manager in ensuring the availability, reliability and operational readiness of infrastructure supporting GPU-based AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) workloads.

The role has a strong focus on high-density cooling, liquid cooling and MEP infrastructure, while also covering facilities operations, maintenance, incident management, infrastructure projects and vendor management.

Key Responsibilities

Data Centre Operations & Infrastructure

  • Support the Data Centre Operations Manager in maintaining 24/7 operational readiness, maximum uptime and SLA compliance.
  • Work closely with IT operations teams to coordinate the deployment, onboarding and replacement of GPU and IT equipment.
  • Support electrical load balancing, failover analysis, air-cooling and liquid-cooling management.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, including thermal efficiency, flow rates, leak detection and overall cooling performance.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with leaks, condensation, corrosion and cooling system failures.

Mechanical & Liquid Cooling

  • Support the deployment and operation of liquid cooling infrastructure, including:Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs)Heat exchangersPiping networksPumps and valvesPressure testingLeak detection and managementCoolant quality testingFilter replacement and preventive maintenance
  • Manage maintenance programmes for critical MEP systems, including CDUs, CRAUs, FCUs, pumps, valves and fire protection systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to operations teams on the monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and cooling infrastructure.
  • Drive improvements in cooling efficiency, energy consumption and sustainability.

Incident, Risk & Project Management

  • Lead or support incident response and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for MEP and cooling-related issues.
  • Conduct operational risk assessments and develop failure scenarios, contingency plans and emergency response procedures.
  • Plan and manage data centre infrastructure upgrades, retrofits and system enhancement projects, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule and budget.
  • Track and report infrastructure KPIs covering reliability, energy efficiency, power, cooling and rack-space utilisation.

Compliance & Vendor Management

  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, environmental, operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures covering hazard identification, chemical handling and emergency response.
  • Manage vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with SLAs, Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) requirements and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate operational documentation and support internal and external audits.

Requirements

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Around 6 years of experience in HVAC operations and maintenance, preferably within mission-critical or data centre environments.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, cooling infrastructure, performance optimisation and energy efficiency.
  • Experience with high-density data centre environments and liquid cooling technologies is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS) and related monitoring/control platforms.
  • Experience managing preventive maintenance programmes, infrastructure projects, vendors and contractors.
  • Good understanding of relevant data centre, building services, safety and regulatory standards.
  • Familiarity with WSH requirements and compliance standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities with the ability to manage complex MEP or cooling-related issues.
  • Able to work effectively across operations, engineering, IT, vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a 24/7 mission-critical data centre environment.
