Job Description

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to support safe, compliant electrical operations on site and to lead/contribute to improvement and capital projects. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on practical application in the field—ensuring electrical work is planned and executed safely, systems remain reliable, and projects are delivered in line with Dutch regulations and site standards.

Responsibilities

- Act as the on-site electrical subject matter expert supporting daily operations and maintenance activities.

- Ensure electrical installations are inspected, maintained, modified, and operated in line with NEN 3140 (and NEN 1010 where applicable) and internal EHS/engineering standards.

- Provide hands-on troubleshooting support, including root cause analysis for electrical failures and operational issues.

- Oversee safe execution of electrical work, including permit-to-work processes, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and contractor activities.

- Support audits, inspections, and compliance activities, ensuring documentation and electrical dossiers are accurate and up to date.

- Support the electrical scope of site projects from early concept through commissioning and handover to operations.

- Review and approve electrical designs, specifications, calculations, and drawings to ensure they meet standards and site requirements.

- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and engineering partners to deliver work safely, on time, and within agreed parameters.

- Participate in risk assessments, safety reviews, and HAZOP-style discussions related to electrical systems.

- Identify and drive improvements in reliability, maintainability, and energy efficiency of electrical systems.

Requirements

- BSc or MSc in Engineering (mandatory).

- NEN 3140 certification (mandatory); NEN 1010 preferred.

- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience (ideal 5–10 years).

- Strong low-voltage electrical experience with proven hands-on site/field capability.

- Experience supporting both operations/maintenance and projects (small to medium projects and improvements).

- Background in pharmaceutical, industrial, or other regulated manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.

- Able to work effectively on-site; English is sufficient (Dutch not required).
