Job Purpose
The Technical Manager – MEP is responsible for providing overall technical leadership and management of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, HVAC, BMS, ELV, and associated building services activities throughout the project lifecycle.
The role ensures that MEP design, coordination, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes and standards, authority requirements, quality standards, budget, and project schedules.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Management
- Provide overall technical leadership for all MEP disciplines throughout the project.
- Review and manage MEP design development, technical submissions, shop drawings, calculations, specifications, and coordination drawings.
- Ensure MEP designs are coordinated, constructible, cost-effective, and aligned with project requirements.
- Review design changes, technical proposals, RFIs, and value-engineering opportunities.
- Identify technical risks, design gaps, clashes, and constructability issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international standards, local authority regulations, project specifications, and contractual requirements.
- Lead technical coordination between MEP, architectural, structural, civil, and specialist systems.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist vendors.
- Lead technical and MEP coordination meetings and ensure timely closure of actions.
- Coordinate MEP interfaces with architectural, structural, civil, façade, interiors, and other project disciplines.
- Review BIM models and coordination drawings to identify and resolve clashes before construction.
- Ensure all technical decisions are properly documented and communicated to relevant project teams.
Construction Support
- Provide technical guidance to MEP construction teams and subcontractors.
- Monitor MEP installation against approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Support site teams in resolving technical problems and construction-related design issues.
- Ensure approved materials, equipment, and systems are used in accordance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure MEP works meet required quality standards.
- Monitor progress of MEP works and identify technical issues that may affect project milestones.
Testing & Commissioning
- Oversee the planning and execution of MEP testing and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with the Testing & Commissioning Manager, specialist subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and client representatives.
- Ensure systems are adequately prepared for testing and commissioning.
- Review commissioning procedures, test results, inspection records, and system performance documentation.
- Support integrated systems testing and final handover activities.
- Ensure all commissioning-related technical issues are resolved before project completion.
Procurement & Commercial Support
- Review technical aspects of MEP subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Support procurement teams with technical evaluation and selection of MEP subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment.
- Review material submittals and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Support evaluation of technical variations, claims, and change orders.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering without compromising quality, safety, or performance.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure MEP works comply with approved IFC drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and authority requirements.
- Work closely with QA/QC teams to prevent non-conformances and minimize rework.
- Review and support closure of NCRs, technical observations, and inspection comments.
- Participate in inspections, audits, and quality reviews.
- Ensure proper technical documentation and records are maintained throughout the project.
Project Handover
- Oversee technical requirements for MEP system completion and handover.
- Ensure preparation and submission of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, test certificates, commissioning records, and other handover documents.
- Coordinate client demonstrations, training, inspections, and final acceptance.
- Support the project team during defects liability and post-handover technical requirements.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor MEP engineers, coordinators, technical engineers, and other technical personnel.
- Establish clear technical responsibilities and performance expectations for the MEP team.
- Monitor team performance and ensure timely delivery of technical submissions and approvals.
- Promote effective communication and collaboration between technical and construction teams.
- Provide technical direction and support for complex project issues.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, MEP Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional engineering certification/licence is an advantage.
- Typically 12–18+ years of MEP experience, with substantial experience in major construction projects.
- Proven experience in a Technical Manager or senior MEP management position.
- Strong experience with design coordination, construction, testing & commissioning, and project handover.
- Experience with large-scale commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, infrastructure, high-rise, or mixed-use projects is preferred.

Pay: AED18,000.00 - AED20,000.00 per month
