Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Planning Engineer to support the planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of MEP and construction projects. The role will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, site teams and other stakeholders to ensure project activities are properly planned, monitored and delivered in line with approved schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review tender documents, project schedules, specifications and contractual planning requirements.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, baseline schedules and look-ahead plans.
  • Prepare activity schedules, manpower plans and resource requirements in coordination with the project team.
  • Monitor actual project progress against the approved programme and identify delays, risks and schedule variances.
  • Update project schedules regularly and ensure accurate progress information is maintained.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, Commercial and site teams to ensure project activities are aligned with the overall programme.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, schedule updates and management reports.
  • Monitor critical activities and highlight potential impacts on project completion.
  • Analyze delays and support the preparation of recovery and mitigation plans.
  • Support the preparation of Extension of Time (EOT), claims, counterclaims and delay analysis where required.
  • Prepare manpower histograms, S-curves, progress curves and other planning reports.
  • Participate in project progress, planning and coordination meetings with clients, consultants and internal teams.
  • Support tender and proposal activities by preparing preliminary programmes, schedules and resource requirements.
  • Identify potential project risks and recommend appropriate mitigation and contingency measures.
  • Maintain proper planning records, project schedules and supporting documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant planning and scheduling experience in MEP or construction projects, preferably within the UAE.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring and resource planning.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6; knowledge of Microsoft Project or similar planning software is an advantage.
  • Experience in preparing baseline programmes, look-ahead schedules, manpower histograms and S-curves.
  • Good knowledge of critical path analysis, schedule variance and recovery planning.
  • Experience in delay analysis, EOT and claims support is preferred.
  • Good understanding of construction sequencing and project execution.
  • Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good coordination and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • PMP or other recognized project management certification is an advantage.
