Job description

We're looking for a detail-oriented and professional Resident Engineer to join our construction supervision team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this role, you will serve as the on-site representative responsible for overseeing construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety throughout the building project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, decisive leadership, and exceptional organizational abilities to manage complex construction operations effectively.

  • Supervise and monitor all construction activities on-site to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and local building codes and regulations

  • Conduct daily site inspections and prepare comprehensive reports documenting progress, issues, and corrective actions

  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely execution of work and adherence to project schedules

  • Implement and enforce site safety protocols and procedures, conducting regular safety briefings and investigations as needed

  • Review and approve construction materials, equipment, and workmanship to maintain quality standards throughout the project

  • Manage technical documentation, including daily logs, inspection records, test reports, and as-built drawings

  • Identify and resolve construction-related issues promptly, providing recommendations for corrective measures

  • Communicate effectively with project management, clients, and stakeholders regarding project status and any concerns

  • Monitor project budgets and costs, flagging any variances or potential overruns

  • Maintain organized records and documentation for all site activities and maintain compliance with contractual requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years post-undergraduate experience plus 5 years in construction supervision or site engineering on building projects in a senior technical position.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering field (i.e. Civil, Structural etc) and PMP preferable, plus membership of a recognized professional institution preferred

  • Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards applicable to Abu Dhabi and the UAE

  • Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure

  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage diverse teams

  • Thorough understanding of construction materials, methods, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems

  • Experience with quality control, inspection procedures, and testing protocols

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
