Your role in detail

We are looking for a motivated Student Research Assistant to support the laboratory work in the research group of Prof. Ina Vorberg. The position involves 8-10 hours per week. Working days are flexible within the regular working week, but should be discussed and confirmed in advance at the beginning of the employment.

The student will mainly assist with routine laboratory work, including:

Maintenance of mammalian cell cultures

Basic molecular biology experiments, such as cloning, plasmid purification, and Western blotting

Preparation of stock solutions and buffers

General lab organization and support with daily laboratory tasks

Occasional assistance with specific ongoing research projects

Your profile in cutting edge research

We are looking for a reliable and organized student, preferably with a bachelor's degree, with prior experience in mammalian cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques. Moreover, good communication skills in English is required. The student should be able to work carefully, follow established protocols, keep clear records, and communicate reliably with lab members.

Your role in cutting edge research

Our lab is located at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) and focuses on studying intercellular transmission of pathogenic protein aggregates in neurodegenerative diseases. The student will have the opportunity encounter to state-of-the-art methods used to investigate aggregate propagation, cellular models of neurodegeneration, and disease-relevant protein aggregation. The position offers the opportunity to work as part of an active research team and contribute to ongoing scientific projects
