Role Description:
As a Lead Engineer High Voltage, you are responsible for the technical leadership and content direction of engineering projects for high‑voltage networks (110–380 kV), substations, and renovation projects. You ensure quality, manage risks, and maintain client relationships throughout all project phases. You will be part of our Energy Transition High Voltage team , where experts work on the design and delivery of high‑voltage lines and substations. In close cooperation with grid operators such as TenneT, we deliver impactful projects, including grid connections for renewable energy generation. The team consists of engineers, project managers, and electrical engineering specialists.
Role Responsibilities:

Lead the technical delivery of high-voltage infrastructure projects, including substations, cable systems, transmission lines, and grid connection projects (110-380 kV).

Act as the technical authority for assigned projects, providing engineering guidance and making key technical decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring effective collaboration, resource allocation, and timely delivery of project milestones.

Review, approve, and oversee the preparation of calculations, technical specifications, equipment selections, single-line diagrams, and detailed engineering deliverables.

Ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations, client requirements, and Arcadis quality and safety procedures.

Manage technical risks, engineering interfaces, and design changes, proactively identifying and resolving issues that may impact project delivery.

Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, grid operators, contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.

Support project managers with project planning, resource forecasting, budgeting considerations, and successful project execution.

Contribute to business development activities through technical input into proposals, tenders, client presentations, and project acquisition efforts.

Coach, mentor, and develop engineers within the team, promoting technical excellence, knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement. Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.

5+ years' experience in high-voltage engineering projects, with experience leading work packages, teams, or technical disciplines.

Strong knowledge of high-voltage substations, transmission systems, cable systems, and applicable industry standards and regulations.

Experience working with TSOs, DSOs, EPC contractors, engineering consultancies, or utility organisations.

Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate technical stakeholders.

Experience managing technical risks, project schedules, and engineering deliverables.

Strong commercial awareness with experience supporting proposals, tenders, or business development activities.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Professional proficiency in English is required. Dutch language skills are strongly preferred and will be considered a significant advantage for this role due to client and stakeholder interactions within the Netherlands. Why Arcadis?
