About Your Role

As a Principal Consultant - Machine Safety at BV Solutions (an independent division of the Bureau Veritas Group), within the Technical Safety Team, your primary focus is machine safety. You will advise companies and organizations on machine safety and CE marking of machinery, supporting both manufacturers and end users.

You will be responsible for delivering consultancy projects across Europe. This includes conducting consultations, assessments, inspections, and training sessions, either on-site, at our offices, or remotely from home. In addition, you will prepare quotations, develop reports, and provide professional recommendations and advice.

You are proactive, customer-oriented, and capable of working independently with a flexible mindset. You provide tailored solutions and recognize commercial opportunities within our network. Drawing on your expertise, you can inspire and guide clients and colleagues with your insights into Technical Safety, innovations, and market developments.

As our Technical Expert, you will have a high degree of autonomy and be responsible for managing much of your own schedule.

Your Responsabilites

  • Perform machine risk assessments in accordance with EN ISO 12100 and applicable product legislation, including the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC).
  • Advise end users and carry out conformity assessments for machinery and production lines throughout the design, manufacturing, and commissioning phases.
  • Verify and validate machinery during design, manufacturing, and commissioning with regard to machine safety, including electrical safety, functional safety, and the application of harmonized standards.
  • Guide CE conformity assessment procedures for new machinery and products covered by the European Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
  • Conduct machine risk assessments under occupational health and safety legislation, including the Work Equipment Directive (2009/104/EC) and relevant Dutch labour regulations.
  • Help define our strategy, train and mentor colleagues, serve as the go-to expert on machine safety, and represent BV Solutions in the market as a recognized Technical Expert.

Your Profile

  • A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field, such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Control Engineering.
  • Extensive professional experience in machine safety.
  • Experience with ATEX and process safety is considered an advantage.
  • Certification as a Certified Machine Safety Expert (CMSE), Machine Safety Specialist (CMSS), or equivalent. Additional certifications in functional safety or CE marking are also advantageous.
  • A valid Category B driving licence. Most assignments will take place within the Netherlands, with occasional travel to other European countries.

  • A bonus of up to 8% of your annual gross salary, based on company performance and personal objectives.
  • Travel reimbursement of €0.23 net per kilometer or a company lease car.
  • 24.5 vacation days and 3 extra leave days per year, supplemented by additional seniority days based on age (based on a 40-hour workweek).
  • Additional net allowances (internet and expenses) of €85,- per month.
  • A pension scheme based on a defined contribution plan.
  • Collective health insurance (optional).
