BESS Project Manager | Berlin | 12-Month Contract

We are seeking a Freelance BESS Project Manager for a 12-month contract based in Berlin to lead utility-scale battery energy storage deployments across Germany. You will take full ownership of project execution, grid connection milestones, contractor management, and site delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end execution of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects from planning to grid sync.
• Manage EPC contractors, site engineers, and high-voltage installation teams to ensure timeline adherence.
• Drive grid connection milestone approvals alongside regional TSOs/DNOs and local authorities.
• Control project budgets, risk registers, site safety standards, and technical sign-offs.

Requirements

• Essential: Proven track record delivering utility-scale BESS or renewable energy infrastructure projects, strong EPC/contractor management experience, fluent German (B2/C1+), and willingness to work hybrid/on-site in Berlin.
• Desirable: Electrical/high-voltage engineering background, working knowledge of German grid connection standards (VDE-AR-N 4110/4120), and BImSchG permitting experience.
