Job description

Department: 84-406 - Content - P&E - Platform & Engagement

Location: Germany - Munich

Description The Junior Social Media Manager is a Munich-based hands-on content creation and community management role within the Content Engagement Off Platform team. The role supports the day-to-day execution of DAZN's social media content strategy across assigned platforms for the DACH region. Reporting to a Social Media Manager, the role assists in creating and publishing social content — including video clips, assets, stories, reels, short-form video, polls, and editorial posts — that engages DACH sports fans, builds DAZN's social audience, and drives traffic to the DAZN platform.

The role requires someone who is passionate about social media and sports, especially football and ideally fight sports as well — someone who is developing an instinct for what content resonates on TikTok versus Instagram, who is eager to learn how to create compelling social content at speed during live sporting events, and who understands the basics of how social media can drive both brand awareness and subscriber acquisition and retention outcomes.

The Junior Social Media Manager works under the guidance of the Social Media Manager, supporting the execution of the content calendar while also bringing fresh creative ideas, trend awareness, and enthusiasm for social platforms that help keep DAZN's social presence relevant and engaging.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Social Content Creation : Create and produce engaging social media content for DAZN's DACH channels — including video clips, assets, stories, reels, short-form video, carousels, polls, and text posts. Learn to ensure all content is platform-native, editorially accurate, on-brand, and optimised for engagement on each platform.
  • Content Publishing & Calendar Support: Support the day-to-day publishing of social content across assigned platforms, following the content calendar set by the Social Media Manager. Assist with scheduling posts, managing publishing tools, and ensuring content is published on time and in the correct format for each platform.
  • Live Event Social Coverage: Real-time social media coverage during live sporting events — helping to create and publish reactive content that captures the excitement of live sport and engages fans in the moment. Support coverage of Bundesliga matchdays, Champions League nights, boxing events, and other key DACH sporting moments under the guidance of the Social Media Manager.
  • Community Management: Monitor and manage community interactions across DAZN's DACH social channels — responding to fan comments, engaging in conversations, maintaining tone and brand voice, and helping to build an active, loyal social community. Escalate sensitive or crisis-related interactions to the Social Media Manager immediately.
  • Acquisition & Retention Content Support: Create social content that supports subscriber acquisition and retention objectives — including content that showcases DAZN's exclusive content, creates urgency around live events, and includes calls-to-action driving platform trial and sign-up.
  • Trend Monitoring & Content Ideas: Actively monitor social media trends, viral moments, memes, and emerging formats across the DACH market. Flag opportunities and propose timely, trend-driven content ideas to the Social Media Manager that could increase DAZN's social relevance and reach.
  • Performance Tracking Support: Assist in monitoring and reporting on social content performance — including engagement rates, reach, video views, follower growth, and click-through rates. Help identify top-performing content and compile learnings for the Social Media Manager.
  • Asset Coordination: Support coordination with Content/Editorial to access video clips, imagery, and talent assets for social content creation. Ensure all content used complies with rights agreements and DAZN's editorial guidelines.
  • Cross-Team Support: Support the broader Content Engagement Off Platform team with content needs — including providing social assets for off-platform distribution, supporting SEO content with social amplification, and contributing to cross-functional campaigns as directed.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Native or near-native German and English language skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience in social media management, social content creation, or digital editorial
  • Demonstrable experience creating engaging social media content across major platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook)
  • Some exposure to real-time social media coverage of live events — ideally live sport (even in a personal or university capacity).
  • Basic understanding of how social media supports brand awareness, audience growth, and subscriber/customer acquisition.
  • Knowledge of and genuine interest in the DACH sports landscape and sports fan social media behaviour.
  • Deep knowledge of football and ideally fight sports (boxing and UFC)

Technical Skills:

  • Good working knowledge of social media platforms — content creation tools, publishing features, and basic analytics.
  • Basic experience with video editing tools (CapCup, Adobe Premiere or equivalent) for creating social video content.
  • Basic proficiency in graphic design tools (Adobe Photoshop) for creating social graphics.
  • Willingness to learn social media analytics and performance reporting.

Soft Skills:

  • Passionate about sport — particularly football and ideally fight sports.
  • Flexible and willing to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays aligned with the live sports calendar.
  • Developing creative instinct and editorial judgement for social content.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately, particularly during live sporting events.
  • Strong awareness of social media culture, trends, and platform-specific best practices.
  • Organised and reliable with ability to support content calendars and publishing schedules.

Benefits Benefits include access to DAZN, 30 days’ annual leave, pension contributions up to 3%, a family friendly community, learning and development resources, opportunity for mobile working and access to our internal speaker series and events.
