Python Backend Developer
Location: Dubai, UAE | Employment Type: Full-time | Experience: 3–5 years
Salary: AED 10000-12000
About the Role
We are looking for a strong Python Backend Developer to join a growing technology team in Dubai. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend systems and APIs, working closely with frontend developers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver reliable and high-performing applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems and RESTful APIs using Python
- Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless API integration
- Write clean, well-structured, and maintainable code following best practices
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving backend architecture
- Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure code quality
- Work within an Agile/Scrum environment, participating in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and bugs
- Maintain technical documentation for backend systems and APIs
Key Requirements
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Python backend development
- Strong proficiency in Python with solid experience in at least one modern framework such as Django, FastAPI, or Flask
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
- Good understanding of databases — both relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational (MongoDB or similar)
- Familiarity with ORM tools and database query optimisation
- Experience working with Git and version control best practices
- Good understanding of REST APIs and client-server architecture
- Experience with Jira or similar project management tools
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
- Experience using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude, or others) to support development work
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher
Good to Have
- Experience with Docker or containerisation tools
- Knowledge of message brokers such as Redis or Celery
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Familiarity with frontend technologies — Angular or React is a plus
