Position Purpose

The Senior Structural Design Engineer (Site-Based) shall provide structural engineering expertise for major building developments, ensuring that structural designs, construction activities, and technical submissions comply with approved requirements, applicable design codes, project specifications, and industry best practices.

The role involves design review, value engineering, peer review, technical coordination, and construction support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate structural designs, calculations, drawings, and technical submissions.
• Perform structural analysis and design reviews for reinforced concrete and post-tensioned structures.
• Conduct peer reviews to ensure compliance, efficiency, constructability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Apply value engineering principles to optimize structural solutions while maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Review contractor shop drawings, RFIs, method statements, temporary works submissions, and technical proposals.
• Provide technical guidance and structural support to site supervision teams during construction.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Resolve structural design-related issues arising during construction.
• Participate in technical meetings, design workshops, and project coordination reviews.
• Ensure structural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 10 years of Structural Design experience.
• Minimum 5 years of UAE experience.
• Proven experience in property development, residential, mixed-use, hospitality, high-rise, or community-development projects.
• Strong experience in reinforced concrete and post-tensioned structural design.
• Demonstrated experience in structural peer reviews and value engineering studies.
• Proficiency in structural design and analysis software, including:
• CSI ETABS
• CSI SAFE
• Bentley RAM Concept
• SAP2000 or equivalent
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with BIM-based coordination processes.
• Strong knowledge of ACI, BS/EN, and applicable UAE design standards.
• Experience supporting construction teams with design clarifications and technical reviews.
• Excellent analytical, coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Preference will be given to candidates with proven UAE experience, particularly within Abu Dhabi, and experience on major building developments.
