About the Opportunity

I am currently partnered with a leading financial markets organization in Abu Dhabi that plays a key role within the UAE’s capital markets ecosystem.

They are looking to hire a Market Surveillance Analyst to join their Exchange Operations function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience across securities, stock exchanges, trading operations or financial market surveillance to join an established and highly regulated organization.

You will be responsible for monitoring trading activity, identifying potentially suspicious or non-compliant behaviour and helping maintain a fair, transparent and orderly marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day trading activity across the market to identify unusual, suspicious or potentially abusive trading behaviour.
• Review orders and executed trades to identify potential market manipulation, irregular activity or regulatory breaches.
• Conduct preliminary investigations and analysis into flagged trading activity.
• Monitor activity across multiple marketplaces and/or asset classes where required.
• Escalate and report suspicious transactions or patterns in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Support the maintenance of a secure, compliant and transparent trading environment.
• Work closely with internal Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, Technology and Exchange Operations teams.
• Engage with relevant market stakeholders, including brokers, investors and other market participants.
• Support effective risk management across trading and surveillance operations.
• Contribute ideas and recommendations for improvements to existing products, services and surveillance processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of trading and surveillance systems.
• Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with internal policies, procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• Ideally 4+ years of experience within securities, a stock exchange, capital markets, market surveillance, trading operations or a closely related environment.
• Experience monitoring or analysing trading activity would be highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of financial markets, securities and trading processes.
• Knowledge of market conduct, trade surveillance, compliance or regulatory requirements is beneficial.
• CFA-related investment qualifications and/or compliance certifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify unusual patterns and behaviours within trading activity.
• High attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a regulated environment.
