Job description

About You You're a hands-on accountant who takes ownership. You're comfortable running the full bookkeeping cycle independently, not just executing tasks handed to you — from bank reconciliations to intercompany entries to preparing data for auditors. You know German GAAP (HGB) and GoBD requirements inside out, and you're excited (not intimidated) by the idea of helping migrate our accounting from DATEV to NetSuite. You're fluent in German and English, detail-oriented, comfortable with deadlines, and you like being the person who keeps the numbers clean and close on schedule. If you want real ownership over the accounting function for a growing international entity — this role is for you. About Us Xsolla is a global commerce company with robust tools and services to help developers solve the inherent challenges of the video game industry. From indie to AAA, companies partner with Xsolla as the merchant of record to help them fund, distribute, market, and monetize their games. Grounded in the belief in the future of video games, Xsolla is resolute in the mission to bring opportunities together, and continually make new resources available to creators. Headquartered and incorporated in Los Angeles, California, Xsolla operates as the merchant of record and has helped over 1,500+ game developers to reach more players and grow their businesses around the world. With more paths to profits and ways to win, developers have all the things needed to enjoy the game. About the Role Xsolla Berlin GmbH is looking for an experienced Accountant to take full ownership of bookkeeping and financial accounting for our German entity. This is an in-house position with end-to-end responsibility for running the company's day-to-day accounting — maintaining accurate books in accordance with German GAAP (HGB) and GoBD requirements, owning month-end close, and ensuring smooth intercompany accounting within a multinational group structure.

Key Responsibilities

Own full-cycle bookkeeping for Xsolla Berlin GmbH, including bank transactions, accounts payable (AP) invoice processing, and journal entries

Prepare monthly trial balance, journal entries, and supporting schedules

Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations across group entities

Ensure bookkeeping is compliant with German GAAP (HGB) and GoBD documentation/retention requirements

Support the transition and ongoing operation of accounting records in NetSuite (migrating from DATEV), including coordination during the localization/integration period

Prepare and file VAT returns (Umsatzsteuervoranmeldung/Umsatzsteuererklärung) and corporate income tax returns, and prepare the annual financial statements (Jahresabschluss)

Prepare data packages and supporting documentation for external tax advisors (corporate tax, VAT returns) and auditors (annual statutory audit)

Assist with fixed asset accounting, accruals, and provisions

Support payroll-related accounting entries and coordination with HR/payroll providers

Respond to ad hoc requests from Internal Audit, Group Reporting, and external consultants (tax advisors, auditors)

Maintain proper invoice documentation in compliance with §14 UStG requirements Requirements

5+ years of hands-on accounting/bookkeeping experience, with demonstrated ability to independently run the full accounting function for a company, ideally within a German GmbH or an international group structure

Proven experience independently preparing and filing German VAT returns and corporate income tax returns, and preparing annual financial statements (Jahresabschluss) — Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK) qualification or equivalent practical experience is a strong plus

Solid working knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and GoBD principles

Practical experience with DATEV; NetSuite experience is a strong plus (or willingness to learn quickly during migration)

Understanding of German VAT (Umsatzsteuer) fundamentals and invoice compliance requirements

Experience with intercompany accounting/reconciliations in a multi-entity environment is a plus

Comfortable working with bank transaction volumes and AP processing at a mid-size company scale

Strong attention to detail and comfort working with structured deadlines (month-end close, audit support)

Fluent in German and English (written and spoken) — role requires liaising with German tax advisors/auditors and an international finance team

Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; comfortable working with data exports and reconciliations

Nice to Have

Prior experience supporting a statutory audit process

Exposure to transfer pricing / cost-plus intercompany models
