Job description

Why does this role exist?

Product design is a competitive weapon. Operational velocity is now the constraint.

In ramps and crypto payments, users increasingly choose based on speed, clarity, trust, and perceived reliability, not just price. In partner environments where multiple ramp providers sit side by side, design quality directly influences conversion, drop off, and preference.

This role exists to turn UIUX into a measurable growth lever for Banxa - and to move at startup velocity by using AI to eliminate manual busywork, compress research cycles, and scale design thinking across the team. Not to "make things look better", but to systematically improve conversion, trust, and partner preference through superior product experience.

AI is not a product feature - it's how individual designers and small teams compress months of work into weeks. Think: rapid user research synthesis, automated design variation generation, competitive teardown automation, spec writing, analytics interpretation, and design system maintenance. The designer's time goes to judgment calls, strategy, and human creativity - not to writing specs, analyzing interviews, or spinning out design variations.

Initially, the focus is on Banxa, shaping how users experience:

  • Onboarding and KYC flows
  • Payment method selection and friction
  • Pricing and fee transparency
  • Error handling, retries, and edge cases
  • Trust signals, brand credibility, and reassurance moments

Over time, this role helps unify product design, experience principles, and brand expression across the Global Payments team, ensuring consistency without sacrificing local or partner specific needs—and building workflows that let smaller design teams ship faster.

What success looks like

  • We consistently outperform competing ramps on conversion in shared partner environments - shipping faster, iterating quicker, and leaving less design work on the table.
  • UIUX becomes a clear reason partners and wallets prefer to feature Banxa because the product is refined, intuitive, and obviously well-thought-through.
  • Design decisions are tied to measurable outcomes: conversion lift, drop-off reduction, time to complete, and user confidence - and we get to those decisions faster because research, analysis, and variation synthesis are compressed.
  • The ramps feel fast, clear, and predictable even in complex regulatory or payment scenarios - shaped by thoughtful, tested design, not templated or generic solutions.
  • A coherent design language and experience system emerges across the payments group - maintained by automated documentation, AI-assisted design system audits, and shareable patterns that teams reuse without constant redesign.
  • The design team ships 2-3x more quality work per cycle because AI eliminates rework: research synthesis, spec writing, competitive analysis, and design iteration are compressed. Designers spend time on judgment, strategy, and craft - not busywork.

What is this role responsible fo

r?This role owns the strategy and execution of product design for Banxa, with a sharp focus on conversion, trust, and competitive differentiation - while building workflows that compress design cycles and eliminate manual busywor

k.Key responsibilities includ

e:Strategy & Visi

  • onDefine a clear UIUX strategy for ramps that treats design as a growth and conversion lever, not a cosmetic laye
  • r.Establish how the design team uses AI to move faster: where AI helps compress research, where it accelerates iteration, where it automates maintenance, and where humans make the call

s.Experience Design & Optimizati

  • onOwn and evolve the end-to-end ramp experience across assets, payment methods, geographies, and partner context
  • s.Identify and remove friction in high drop-off moments such as KYC, payment selection, redirects, failures, and retrie
  • s.Use user research (interviews, surveys, session replays) to inform design decisions - and compress research synthesis cycles using AI to tag themes, surface patterns, and generate research summarie
  • s.Rapidly generate multiple design variations, test different approaches, and iterate based on feedback - with AI handling the mechanical work of spinning out alternatives, redlining specs, and generating supporting documentatio

n.Experimentation & Measureme

  • ntRun structured UX experiments and A/B tests focused on conversion, completion rates, and user confidenc
  • e.Use heatmaps, session replay analysis, and funnels to identify high-leverage improvements - with AI accelerating the analysis (pattern recognition, clustering, anomaly detection
  • ).Interpret results quickly and move to the next test without analysis becoming a bottlenec

k.Design Systems & Documentati

  • onCreate a scalable design system and interaction patterns that can be reused across Banxa, OSL Pay, and future group product
  • s.Build design documentation, component specs, and usage guidelines - using AI to auto-generate boilerplate, enforce consistency, and maintain specs as components evolv
  • e.Audit and maintain the design system across products - with AI flagging inconsistencies and suggesting standardization opportunitie
  • s.Use generative tools to produce and maintain design tokens, pattern libraries, and decision framework

s.Competitive & Market Intelligen

  • ceConduct competitive teardowns and market analysis to inform design strategy - using AI to speed up UI inventories, generate comparative analysis, and synthesize findings into actionable insight
  • s.Translate competitive observations into design opportunities without getting stuck in manual research wor

k.Cross-functional Executi

  • onWork closely with product, engineering, and growth teams to ensure design decisions are instrumented and measurabl
  • e.Partner with compliance, risk, and legal teams to deliver regulatory requirements without unnecessary UX damage - designing for Travel Rule flows, KYC complexity, and risk-driven user journeys in ways that feel intuitive, not bureaucrati
  • c.Brief teams, write specs, and document decisions efficiently - using AI to handle the writing, formatting, and organization so the designer focuses on clarity and inten

t.Culture & Influen

  • ceShape the internal design narrative: how the company thinks about UX, tradeoffs, and experience-led growt
  • h.Model how to use AI tools pragmatically: as productivity multipliers, not replacements for judgment. Show the team how to stay human-driven while shipping faste
  • r.Coach product and engineering teams on design principles and why certain decisions matter - building design literacy across the or
