About the role

The European Network for the Work with Perpetrators of Domestic Violence (WWP EN) is seeking a researcher to support the organisation’s Research and Development Manager. The role combines applied research, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, practitioner training, and the communication of evidence to specialist and non-specialist audiences.

The successful candidate will contribute across WWP EN’s research portfolio rather than to a single project. The work will help strengthen evidence-based practice in perpetrator interventions and make research findings useful and accessible to practitioners, services, policymakers, and other stakeholders.

Main responsibilities

The researcher will support the Research and Development Manager across the following interrelated

workstreams:

1. Implementation and roll-out of the IMPACT Outcome Monitoring Toolkit

• Support the wider implementation and dissemination of IMPACT among perpetrator programmes and other

relevant services.

• Liaise with current and prospective users, organise and participate in user meetings, respond to

methodological questions, and identify implementation needs.

• Contribute to updating and improving the toolkit, its questionnaires, guidance, training materials, indicators, and related research procedures.

• Update, administer, and monitor the LimeSurvey platform used for IMPACT data collection, including survey structure, data quality, user access, and follow-up with participating services.

• Prepare, clean, document, merge, and manage longitudinal and multi-source IMPACT datasets.

• Conduct quantitative statistical analyses of IMPACT data, including more sophisticated analyses appropriate to outcome-monitoring and repeated-measures data.

• Prepare practitioner-focused reports, presentations, and other materials that translate IMPACT findings into clear and useful messages.

2. Research mappings and related studies within specific assignments

• Conduct desk research and evidence reviews to define the scope, concepts, sources, and analytical framework for each mapping.

• Support sampling and recruitment, including identifying and selecting potential interviewees or respondents, contacting them, arranging participation, and maintaining accurate records.

• Design or adapt data-collection tools and conduct interviews, focus groups, surveys, and other forms of data collection.

• Prepare, clean, organise, document, and curate quantitative and qualitative data for analysis.

• Conduct qualitative analysis and mainly descriptive quantitative analysis, integrating findings from different sources where appropriate.

• Draft mapping reports, comparative analyses, summaries, and practitioner-oriented outputs.

3. Cross-cutting research, training, and dissemination

• Contribute to other quantitative and qualitative research, evaluation, and methodological tasks across WWP EN projects.

• Prepare high-quality reports, summaries, briefings, presentations, and data visualisations that communicate methods and findings clearly and accurately to practitioners and other audiences.

• Design and deliver training, webinars, and technical support on IMPACT and other WWP EN research tools and findings.

• Present and disseminate research results through workshops, conferences, network meetings, publications, and professional or academic forums.

• Work collaboratively with WWP EN colleagues, member organisations, external researchers, and project partners, while managing agreed tasks autonomously.

Required profile

• A relevant university degree in psychology, social sciences, public health, criminology, statistics, or a related field. A master or doctorate is not required, but an advanced research qualification is an asset.

• A sound understanding of gender-based violence, domestic violence, and the gendered dynamics of violence. Knowledge of work with perpetrators and perpetrator programmes is strongly valued.

• Strong quantitative data-analysis skills, including sound knowledge of statistical methods and experience working with statistical software. Candidates should be comfortable moving beyond descriptive statistics when required.

• Experience managing, cleaning, documenting, and analysing research datasets carefully and reproducibly.

• Excellent written and spoken English, including the ability to write clear, accurate, and well-structured research outputs.

• Strong communication and knowledge-translation skills: the ability to explain data, methods, and findings in ways that are understandable and relevant to practitioners.

• Confidence presenting research and facilitating training with professional audiences.

• Ability to work independently in a remote, international, and project-based environment, while communicating reliably and meeting agreed deadlines.

• Candidates must be based in Europe.

Desirable experience

• Qualitative research and analysis, including coding and thematic analysis.

• Longitudinal, repeated-measures, multilevel, outcome-monitoring, or programme-evaluation data.

• Research involving perpetrator programmes, victim-survivor safety, risk assessment, multi-agency cooperation, or intervention outcomes.

• Working with European or international projects, networks, NGOs, or practitioner organisations.

• Data visualisation and the production of accessible practitioner-oriented research materials.

• Contract duration: 1 year (freelance), with the possibility of extending the duration, part-time at 50%

dedication (around 20 hours/week), with the possibility of increasing to 75% dedication after 6 months.

Anticipated start date: 20th September 2026.

• Remuneration: the financial allocation is depending on the experience, and is based on a freelance consultancy daily rate ranging from 180 to 200 € full-time equivalent (8-hrs base), representing the fully loaded overall costs for the organization. All applicable taxes, administrative costs, social security contributions, or other professional cost under their national legislation will be borne entirely by the researcher, in strict accordance with their individual fiscal framework and country-specific tax regulations.

Selection process

Applications will be assessed against the responsibilities and required profile set out in this call. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an online interview, held between 13th and 17th September 2026, to discuss their experience in greater depth. The interview will include a short live data-analysis simulation. Candidates will receive a small, non-sensitive example dataset or analytical prompt and will be asked to explain how they would approach the task, conduct data analysis, interpret selected results, and explain how they would communicate the implications. The exercise is intended to assess analytical reasoning, methodological judgement, and the ability to make findings understandable - not speed or prior familiarity with a specific WWP EN dataset.
