Job description
About Us
Pocket FM is the world’s largest audio-series platform, redefining storytelling across languages, cultures, and geographies. With a presence across India, the US, and Europe, we are building a truly global entertainment experience without screens.
As an AI-powered, human-first company, we combine technology with creativity to help stories scale globally while preserving cultural depth and emotional authenticity. Today, we are home to 250+ million listeners, 300,000+ creators, and 100,000+ audio series, with over 140 billion minutes streamed annually. We’re one of the fastest-growing media-tech companies globally, operating at scale with a startup mindset: fast, bold, and owner-driven.
The Role
You’ll be the trusted advisor and first point of contact for all things legal across our EU & UK business. You’ll work at the intersection of content, technology, and business, enabling teams to move quickly while navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes. If you enjoy building, solving, and owning outcomes, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary legal counsel for all EU business and commercial functions
- Lead, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements across the EU, including content licenses, distribution and platform agreements, co-production arrangements, agency and reseller agreements, and vendor contracts
- Own the EU commercial legal workload end-to-end: triage, prioritize, and close matters at pace, tagging in specialists (employment, product legal, privacy, tax, regulatory) when issues require it, while retaining ownership of the overall matter and outcome.
- Proactively identify legal risks that haven't been raised as requests, review agreements, business plans, and product roadmaps on your own initiative and surface issues before they become problems
- Advise on EU regulatory and compliance matters with commercial implications, including the Digital Services Act, Digital Markets Act, AI Act, and applicable consumer protection frameworks; translate regulatory requirements into practical guidance business teams can act on
- Support licensing and rights clearance workflows, including chain-of-title review, moral rights analysis, and EU/national adaptation of content deal structures, including DSM Directive compliance and collective management considerations.
- Partner with stakeholders on the EU commercial aspects of our multi-entity structure.
- Build scalable infrastructure: playbooks, standard-form agreements, approval matrices, and templates that reduce friction
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments across key EU markets (including the UK) and proactively advise internal teams on commercial and operational implications
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified lawyer in at least one EU member state jurisdiction or England & Wales, with 6+ PQE
- Strong experience in commercial contracts and cross-border work
- Deep understanding of EU regulatory landscape and IP/licensing
- A business-first mindset. You think like an owner, not just a lawyer
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Excellent communicator who can simplify complex legal concepts
- Experience in tech, media, entertainment, or consumer internet in a scaling or global company
- Exposure to digital content, platforms, or AI-related regulations
