- Role: Electrical Engineer Shipbuilding
- Work location: Rotterdam, the Netherlands – on-site
- Start: As soon as possible
- Duration: Approximately five months
- Contract: Freelance assignment
- Language: Advanced Dutch is mandatory
- Focus: Electrical ship design, MicroStation, electrical installations, drive systems and automation
- Due to the military nature of the project, only EU citizens will be considered.
With experience in electrical ship design and the ability to work independently from the first day, you can step directly into this Electrical Engineer Shipbuilding assignment in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. You will work on-site for 40 hours per week within an advanced maritime engineering setting. As daily technical coordination takes place in Dutch, fluency in the language is essential.
Where You’ll Work
You will join an engineering team working on technically complex maritime projects, including naval vessels, floating offshore energy applications and special vessels.
Projects range from concept development to complete design engineering. During this assignment, you may contribute to large-scale programmes, as well as smaller, intensive projects requiring focused engineering and close coordination between disciplines.
What You’ll Do
- Develop electrical designs for maritime projects.
- Prepare and update electrical design drawings and engineering deliverables in MicroStation.
- Work on the design of shipboard electrical installations, drive systems and automation.
- Take responsibility for your own engineering scope and deliver independently from the first day.
- Coordinate technical interfaces with other Electrical Engineers and maritime engineering disciplines.
- Provide customers and colleagues with clear electrical engineering input.
- Contribute practical ideas for technical innovations and the further development of the electrical engineering discipline.
What You Bring
Due to the military nature of the project, only EU citizens will be considered.
- Professional experience as an Electrical Designer or Electrical Engineer within shipbuilding.
- Good knowledge of MicroStation.
- Practical knowledge of electrical installations, drive systems, and automation on board ships.
- The ability to manage your own technical scope and work independently from the start of the assignment.
- Advanced Dutch communication skills; this is a strict requirement.
- Availability to work on-site in Rotterdam for 40 hours per week.
