THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Lounge by Zalando is the leading online outlet in Europe, offering limited-time exclusive discounts on premium fashion and lifestyle brands.

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you'll enhance the customer experience on the Lounge by Zalando web app. You'll bring a customer-centric mindset, translating non-technical stakeholder stories into technical solutions. Your daily work will involve ReactJS, TypeScript, and NodeJS codebases, along with integrating REST APIs.

The Lounge Tech team is focused on continuously improving the online shopping experience across the Lounge by Zalando apps. Our mission, Lounge Innovate, drives the personalisation and enrichment of customer interactions through the development of an AI-powered shopping assistant.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Play a key role in shaping the Innovate mission, building solutions for Lounge by Zalando's web applications.
• Own and drive frontend delivery within your squad, collaborating with your team to architect and deliver customer-focused solutions for Lounge by Zalando's end users.
• Drive alignment with cross-functional stakeholders, shaping requirements and influencing technical direction from the frontend perspective.
• Act like an owner, define the path through ambiguity, represent frontend engineering in your squad, and drive delivery end to end.
• Lean on your web expertise to design scalable, performant, and maintainable systems, setting the frontend standard for your squad.
• Actively collaborate with frontend engineers across the broader mission and guild, sharing best practices and elevating collective technical standards.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF YOU HAVE

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, Tailwind, and Node.js
• Proven ability to deploy and operate applications in cloud-native infrastructure (AWS and Kubernetes), with a strong focus on observability, automated testing, and continuous delivery
• A genuine passion for usability and accessibility, with a sharp eye for good design and user experience
• Deep proficiency in debugging and performance optimisation of frontend applications
• Microfrontends, Atomic Design, and Isomorphic Rendering are tools you've applied in production, not just concepts you know
• Embrace AI-assisted development, you actively use tools like Claude, Copilot or similar to move faster, write better code, and focus on what matters
