Senor Design System Designer

At Air France – KLM, we are looking for a Senior Design System Designer to continue to shape our Design System. As a design community we create digital experiences for our customers that spread across different touchpoints, in a way that reflect both of our brands. To create the best possible experiences, all of the basics should be in good shape. This allows us to deliver easy-to-use products that are consistent, inclusive and can be delivered in a fast and efficient way. Our design system plays a vital part in that by providing clear vision, standards and ready-to-use components to build any number of applications.

For this role, you will focus on the evolution of our Design System to extend and continuously improve it, ensuring it aligns with industry design principals and best practices, including the use of design tokens. It is your job to provide the standards and components so the rest of our design community can focus on building great products. Products that use the building blocks you created, used by millions of passengers every year! What will you do?* Create and update inclusive, easy-to-use components that can be applied across products, supporting the right context of use;

• Investigate on industry’s best practices and technology trends to ensure the design system’s architecture is tailored to support our ambition;
• Maintain and expend our design tokens strategy;
• Incorporate our brand values and beliefs so our design system and digital assets reflect both identities;
• Create comprehensive and clear up-to-date documentation, explaining how to use everything the design system has to offer;
• Promote inclusivity and diversity in design choices, by integrating accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), making sure our components are usable by everyone;
• Paving the way for our design community by helping them applying the design system effectively and using the design tokens to right way, handling component requests or potential bugs and keeping them up to date about the latest additions and changes;
• Collaborate with designers, developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the design system aligns with project goals and user needs;
• Conduct user research and gather feedback to understand how design system components are performing in real-world scenarios;
• Stay updated on design and technology trends to ensure the design system remains relevant and adaptable to changing needs;
• Advocate for the design system's adoption and usage across the organization.

Your profile* A bachelor's degree in Design or a related field;

• A minimum 5/6 years of experience in the digital design field;
• Proven experience in designing and maintaining design systems at large scale;
• Proficiency in setting up and maintaining design tokens. Experience setting up a design tokens strategy for a large company, ideally a multi brand company, to streamline the work of building, maintaining, and scaling products with a design system;
• Extensive knowledge about Figma as a tool to create and distribute all parts of the design system to the design community;
• Strong understanding of web and mobile design principles;
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and inclusive design practices;
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills;
• Strong eye for detail and a high commitment to quality;
• Excellent understanding of HTML/ CSS; knowledge of GitHub,
• Fluent in English;
• Ability to adapt to evolving design and technology trends.
