This is a hands-on, site-based HSE role suited to someone from a construction background, ideally with experience supporting manufacturing sites in highly regulated environments. We are looking for an individual who is not only able to provide HSE oversight and guidance, but who is also willing to roll up their sleeves, work closely with project teams and contractors, and directly produce and review key HSE documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, permits, and contractor safety plans.
To perform in this role, you will need to be fluent in German & English.
Key Responsibilities
-
Act as the HSE subject matter expert for site-based projects, promoting visible leadership and a strong culture of safety, health, and wellbeing across the PJM team, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
-
Provide practical, operational HSE support to live construction and project activities on site, working closely with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders.
-
Prepare, review, and support the delivery of key HSE documentation, including risk assessments, RAMS/method statements, contractor plans, safe systems of work, and other project safety documents.
-
Ensure all project-level HSE activities are carried out in accordance with applicable local legislation, client requirements, international standards, and company Environmental, Health and Safety standards.
-
Work closely with the site PJM team to ensure site-specific contractor plans, project safety requirements, and the appropriate hierarchy of controls are embedded into project execution.
-
Support contractor pre-qualification, onboarding, planning, and ongoing performance monitoring from an HSE perspective.
-
Ensure project designs and execution plans are safe, practical, and aligned with engineering best practice, compliance requirements, and company/client safety standards.
-
Manage, develop, and implement HSE programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and the specific needs of the client account.
-
Support project teams with task supervision and day-to-day site safety activities where required.
-
Conduct site inspections, audits, and reviews to verify compliance and identify improvement actions.
-
Lead or support accident, incident, near-miss reporting, recording, and investigation in line with company and client procedures.
-
Coach and support the PJM team and other stakeholders in the use of HSE tools, processes, and techniques, ensuring they understand and fulfil their HSE responsibilities.
-
Participate as required in presentations, consultations, bids, and contract discussions to support client requirements and project outcomes.
-
Carry out any other duties reasonably aligned to the role.
Education / Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Environ, Science, OHS, Engineering or a related field.
-
Professional certifications (e.g. Certified Safety Professional).
-
Minimum of 5 years of related experience within pharmaceutical environments.
-
Experience in Swiss/Eu regulatory frameworks (optional but valuable)
-
Good oral and written communication skills
-
Client-focused approach.
-
Proficient in German & English.
