We are looking for an experienced maritime professional to lead the Marine Assurance function across Maersk's owned fleet.

As the Marine Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for driving the fleet's audit, quality assurance and compliance strategy, ensuring vessel operations consistently meet the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

Leading a global team of Marine Assurance Superintendents (MAS) and Vessel Assurance Surveyors (VAS), you will strengthen governance, enhance audit effectiveness and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the fleet.

We offer

At Maersk, we believe in the power of diversity, collaboration, and continuous learning and we work hard to ensure that the people in our organisation reflect and understand the customers we exist to serve.

With over 100,000 employees across 130 countries, we work together to shape the future of global trade and logistics.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Fleet Safety, you will lead Marine Assurance across Maersk's owned fleet, ensuring a robust, risk-based audit and quality assurance framework that supports safe, compliant and reliable vessel operations.

Ensure timely closure of audit findings and effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Continuously improve audit methodologies, assurance standards and governance processes.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

Lead initiatives that strengthen quality, compliance and operational excellence across the fleet.

Develop and enhance risk-based assurance programmes to improve vessel performance.

Drive standardisation and continuous improvement of Marine Assurance processes, systems and reporting.

Monitor assurance performance through KPIs, trend analysis and quality metrics.

Leadership

Lead, coach and develop the Marine Assurance Superintendent (MAS) and Vessel Assurance Surveyor (VAS) teams across multiple locations.

Build a high-performing assurance organisation focused on quality, consistency and operational excellence.

Manage departmental budget and resource planning.

Governance & Compliance

Ensure Marine Assurance activities remain aligned with Maersk's policies, Fleet Safety objectives and international maritime regulations.

Serve as Deputy Designated Person Ashore (Deputy DPA), supporting effective communication between vessels and shore management.

Provide assurance reporting, insights and recommendations to Fleet Safety leadership.

Stakeholder Engagement

Partner closely with Fleet Operations, Marine People & Culture, Safety & Resilience, Platform and other stakeholders to strengthen assurance outcomes.

Represent Marine Assurance during customer visits, external audits, regulatory inspections and engagements with classification societies.

Incident Assurance

Support investigations into vessel incidents, audit findings and non-conformities.

Ensure lessons learned are translated into sustainable improvements across the fleet.

Authorisation

Authorise payments and sign documents in accordance with delegated authority.

Master Mariner or Chief Engineer with significant seagoing experience.

Extensive experience in Marine Assurance, Quality Management, ISM audits, inspections or fleet management.

Proven experience leading audit, compliance or quality functions within the maritime industry.

Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams across multiple locations.

Strong knowledge of ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISPS and IMO regulations.

Experience conducting or overseeing internal and external audits.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, manage risk and drive continuous improvement.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all organisational levels.
