Job description
Position: Site Engineer — Retail Fit-Out & Installation
Division: AND Construct / AND Craft (site execution interface)
Reports to: Operations Manager/ Project Manager — confirm reporting line
Location: Project sites across UAE (base: Dubai Production City)
Role Purpose
To own site execution of AND's fit-out and installation projects — ensuring works are delivered exactly per approved drawings, on time, with zero re-work, and coordinating between the workshop, subcontractors, site teams, and client/mall authorities so nothing built on site deviates from design intent.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Site Execution
- Supervise retail fit-out works on site — shopfronts, wall claddings, flooring, ceilings, lighting, and installation of retail display units (counters, back walls, gondolas, podiums) — against approved shop drawings and brand guidelines.
- Conduct site surveys of retail units before production release — verify demise lines, existing services, floor levels, and mall interfaces; report discrepancies to the drafting team immediately.
- Plan installations around retail constraints: night works, trading-hours restrictions, hoarding requirements, material delivery windows, and mall loading procedures.
- Supervise handling and installation of high-value finished units, protecting premium finishes (veneer, Corian, acrylic, metal, glass, lighting) from workshop door to store floor.
- Coordinate brand/client representatives during installation — luxury retail clients inspect in detail; every junction, shadow gap, and finish must match the approved sample and drawing.
Mall & Authority Compliance
6. Manage the full mall fit-out cycle: fit-out permit applications, drawing submissions, hoarding erection, mall engineering inspections, work permits (including hot works and night works), and final mall handover/clearance — across major UAE mall operators (Emaar, Majid Al Futtaim, Nakheel, etc.).
7. Ensure compliance with mall fit-out guidelines and authority requirements (DCD, DM, DDA as applicable) throughout execution.
8. Enforce HSE on site per Policy 39 — PPE, permits, and mall safety regulations, especially for night shifts.
Quality — Zero Re-Work
9. Execute Q1 in-process inspections during installation and support Q2 final inspection before handover; close snag lists before brand opening dates — retail openings don't move.
10. Verify setting-out, levels, and fixing details before works proceed; stop non-conforming work and escalate same day.
Subcontractor & Workshop Coordination
11. Manage MEP and civil subcontractors within the retail unit: scope clarity, daily tracking, quality acceptance before closing up.
12. Confirm site readiness before workshop dispatch; coordinate delivery sequencing with the Head of Production so units arrive in installation order.
Reporting & Documentation
13. Submit daily site reports (photos, manpower, progress vs. programme, mall/client issues) to the Project Manager.
14. Maintain site records: permits, inspection records, variation log, as-built markups; never execute variations without documented instruction.
Software & Technical Skills
- AutoCAD — read, mark up, and extract dimensions from shop drawings
- MS Excel / MS Project — progress and programme tracking
- Strong drawing literacy: joinery details, shopfront sections, MEP overlays and planning
- Familiarity with mall fit-out portals/submission processes
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Interior Design/Fit-Out, or equivalent
- 4–6 years UAE experience specifically in retail fit-out — mall units, boutiques, shop-in-shops; luxury brand project exposure strongly preferred
- Proven track record managing mall fit-out procedures and night-work installation programmes
- Knowledge of retail finishes: joinery, veneer, Corian, acrylic, metal, glass, paint, retail lighting
- UAE driving license preferred; night shift flexibility essential
- Strong English; Hindi/Urdu/Malayalam an advantage
Competencies & Values Alignment
Ownership of site outcomes — accountability over blame · Precision under retail deadline pressure (opening dates are immovable) · Firm with subcontractors, polished with luxury brand clients · Proactive escalation, no surprises · Alignment with AND core values — Excellence, Integrity, Collaboration.
KPIs (indicative)
Store handover on opening date · Snags per handover / closure before opening · Re-work incidents from site error · Mall violations/fines (zero target) · Daily report compliance.
Pay: From AED4,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
