Electrical Estimating Engineer

We are seeking an Electrical Estimating Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical building services packages on large-scale data centre projects. Working closely with clients, consultants, supply chain partners, and internal delivery teams, you will play a key role in securing new business opportunities while ensuring commercial and technical viability.

This role requires strong technical knowledge of electrical systems within mission-critical environments, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tender submissions within demanding timescales.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

· Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical installations on data centre projects.

· Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and employer requirements.

· Produce take-offs and quantity assessments from drawings and BIM models.

· Develop pricing strategies and tender submissions aligned with project requirements.

· Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.

· Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative technical solutions.

· Prepare tender clarifications, exclusions, assumptions, and risk assessments.

· Support bid presentations and client meetings.

· Technical Responsibilities Assess electrical infrastructure including:

o HV/LV distribution systems

o UPS systems

o Generators and standby power

o Switchgear and transformers

o Busbar and sub main cabling systems

o Power monitoring systems

o Lighting and emergency lighting

o Earthing and lightning protection

o Fire alarm and life safety systems

o Security and ICT infrastructure

· Review project designs for accuracy, completeness, and buildability.

· Identify technical risks and opportunities throughout the tender process.

· Prepare comprehensive pricing schedules and cost plans.

· Analyse project costs against budgets and benchmarks.

· Support procurement strategies during pre-construction.

· Assist in cost planning and budgeting during project development stages.

· Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.

· Ensure tender submissions are commercially robust and competitive.

· Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

· Work collaboratively with design, commercial, and project delivery teams.

· Attend tender review meetings and project handovers.

· Build strong relationships with key supply chain partners.

· Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties

· Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company, and group policies and procedures.

Qualifications: Skills and Experience

· HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

· Relevant industry qualifications and professional memberships desirable.

· Proven experience in electrical estimating within the construction or MEP sector.

· Experience pricing large-scale data centre projects or mission-critical facilities.

· Strong understanding of electrical building services systems.

· Experience with design-and-build projects.

· Knowledge of UAE local Authority Regulations and Standards

· Knowledge of data centre standards and resilience requirements.

· Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications.

· Strong commercial awareness and cost analysis skills

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Blue Beam and estimating software

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
