Job Description: Electrical Engineer in a Construction Company
Position Overview: The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems within construction projects. They will ensure that electrical installations comply with safety standards, regulatory codes, and project requirements. The role requires technical expertise in electrical engineering, project management, and effective collaboration with other construction professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical System Design and Planning:
- Design electrical systems for construction projects, including power distribution, lighting, communication, and emergency systems.
- Perform load calculations and select appropriate materials, equipment, and wiring.
- Prepare electrical layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Project Management and Coordination:
- Work closely with architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure electrical designs meet project specifications and deadlines.
- Supervise and monitor electrical work on-site to ensure compliance with plans, codes, and safety regulations.
- Manage the electrical scope of work, including procurement of materials, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Installation and Testing:
- Oversee the installation of electrical systems, ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with project plans and specifications.
- Conduct tests on electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any electrical issues that arise during construction.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, ensuring all electrical work is completed in accordance with safety standards to protect workers and the public.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections during the construction process.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare technical reports, as-built drawings, and other documentation for the completed electrical systems.
- Provide regular progress reports to management and clients.
- Maintain records of materials used, installation processes, and any modifications made during construction.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and construction teams to resolve technical issues and optimize project efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of electrical systems and components.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license may be required or preferred, depending on jurisdiction.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering within the construction industry.
- Knowledge of local and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC).
- Proficiency with electrical design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with renewable energy systems (solar, wind) and energy efficiency.
- Project management experience or certification (e.g., PMP).
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) for electrical systems.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: AED8,000.00 - AED10,000.00 per month
