At the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology (HIF), innovative technologies for the circular economy are developed to provide and use mineral and metal-bearing raw materials more efficiently and to recycle them in an environmentally friendly way.

The Group Sensors is looking for an Engineer (f/m/d) for robotics and sensor integration. Your tasks

  • Develop and program operation routines for robotic arms
  • Design and implement solutions for sensor systems that include robotic arms
  • Develop software solutions for automating processes
  • Support experiments, trouble shooting and optimisation of sensor systems with focus on robotic arms
  • Supporting the development of data processing workflows and sensor communication protocols
  • Discussions and presentations of results and achievements

Your profile

  • Completed university studies (Bachelor/Master/Diploma) with experience in Engineering or similar
  • Expertise in information technology, software engineering, robotics and autonomous systems and related fields
  • Background with optical imaging sensors, esp. hyperspectral sensors, and sensor integration
  • In particular, experience in application-oriented programming, esp. robots (e.g. robotic arms), using C++, Python and robot-programming languages such as KRL
  • High motivation to learn and find solutions for upcoming challenges
  • Good communication skills and capability to work in international teams
  • Good language skills in English and German, both written and spoken
