Job description
👷🏻♀️ WHAT WE DO 👷🏻♀️
At Emidat, we are building the first climate-native product management system for building material manufacturers. We aim to decarbonise building materials, making up 11% of global GHG emissions. We collect data from physical production processes, generate a digital product passport with verified environmental data and make it usable along the value chain. In short: One solution to assess, design, buy, sell and manage products - with environmental impact at the core.
With this, we are building the digital infrastructure to make it faster, easier, and more sustainable to build the world around us.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
Your mission
You will play a key role in establishing Emidat as the go-to platform for environmental data of our customers' products. There is immense potential in that data. Your mission is to translate this data into real value for our customers and to build the applications that drive this, zero to one.
As a Senior Engineer on this team, you own the full product loop. You don't implement specs handed to you. You're in discovery conversations, forming hypotheses, shipping, and measuring. High autonomy, high accountability.
In the first 6 months, you will
-
Take full ownership over complex, ambiguous projects: define requirements, navigate trade-offs, and drive delivery.
-
Specifically, help establish Emidat as a service provider for Digital Product Passports, and discover new use-cases for different personas (e.g. Sales) in our customer base.
-
Coach and mentor other engineers in the team on system architecture.
-
Improve how we build: invest in tooling, processes, and abstractions that multiply the team's output.
-
Identify problems others don't see, and turn them into actionable proposals.
OUR TECH STACK:
-
Languages: Python, TypeScript
-
Backend: FastAPI, gRPC
-
Frontend: React
-
Databases: PostgreSQL, Redis
-
Infrastructure & DevOps: Kubernetes, OpenTofu, OTel, AWS, Azure
-
CI/CD & Automation: GitHub Actions, Docker, FluxCD
-
Product Delivery: Linear
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THIS ROLE
Minimum requirements
-
Proven track record of owning and driving impactful product initiatives end-to-end as a senior/staff individual contributor.
-
Demonstrated senior-level experience leading system design and architecture decisions, including infrastructure design, technical planning, and cross-team architectural ownership.
-
Expertise in high level programming languages like Python (preferred), Typescript, Java, Rust or Go.
-
Thrives in a fast-moving environment where priorities and direction can shift quickly, and is ready to pivot when the data points a new way.
-
Experienced in leveraging AI to accelerate product development and for rapid prototyping.
-
Business-Fluent English (written and verbal) for internal and external communication.
Nice to haves
-
Experience building software around complex domain specifications or standards.
-
Domain knowledge or professional exposure to adjacent sectors, such as Climate/Sustainability, Construction Tech, or Manufacturing.
-
Having built multiple products from the ground up, from initial commit to go-live in production.
